Estimated Miles Per Gallon
I drive on average about 400+ miles a week from commuting to and from school, and various activities, and get about 300 miles, when there is about a 1/6 left in the tank. (i reset the trip odo, when I fill up). I drive 65-72 on the highway, while my mornings are bumper to bumper, where I rarely get out of third. I am pretty impressed by the fuel economy and figure it to be around 25 or so combined, again this is creeping in the morning, 65 at night in 6th. Coming from a v8 Dakota that would rarely get 250 miles out of 18 gallon fill up, this is huge advantage.

So, even with using premium gas, the XF is still more economical to drive, plus much cooler and fun to drive. Is that an understatement or what?
Sounds right about what i'm getting as well, between 300+ miles on a full tank. And you're right, i have a '93 Jimmy and driving the Xfire is a lot more economical. However, living in N.E. an SUV is a must for the winters, so my xf is garaged and i'm missing it!

Why is there a concern that heated seats gives poor gas milage ?
Proper tire pressure and smoothness will elevate your fuel milage as I have gotten as much as 33 MPG with 3000 mi on a 2004 stick/auto. The car is slippery enough that wind doesn't effect the milage much.
Fuel nossel rate of kickback at different Stations will confuse your computations as well.

The ads in the papers around here are stating approx 15mpg city, 28-ish highway (thats converting litres per 100km to mpg). I honestly don't know what I'm getting, with the way gas prices change around here, whenever they get below 80c / litre I just fill up so I haven't had less than a half tank for comparison. But I estimate I'm getting about what the ads say: 15 city, but definitely not 28 hwy. Maybe 20 hwy. I'm in the 6 speed too, but maybe my problem here is the operative word: SPEED!
BTW for you brits, the ads are 14.7l/100km city, 8.5l/100km hwy.

Hey Hunter416,
The automatic has higher gas mileage. City 21. Highway 28. This is on the sticker.
The manual is lower. City 17. Highway 25. On sticker.
=)
I have an automatic, total mileage so far is around 550 miles. At this point, I am getting around 24.5 miles per gallon.

the fuel,
you are quite right. I was surprised when I found that out. Are there any other cars out there that is like the crossfire? Almost all cars I have seen has higher gas mileage with the manual. I guess the computer must do a great job with the automatic.

As a professional race driver for too many years, this car is the first car I've owned that is a automatic other than my truck that hauls my race car.
I was about to get the six speed until I saw the difference in gas milage that the auto/stick gave. I then tested the six speed and now know why the standard transmission gave poorer milage. I've raced cars with wider gear ratios than what is afforded in the Crossfire. Shifting was basicly a waste of time and gas consuming as well.
One of my Corporate Sponsors is Amsoil which helps with the gas milage and for your information the Factory uses Wix oil filters. The torque on the oil filter cap is 18 ft/lbs or 216 in/lbs. Lug nuts are 81 ft/lbs.
I hope this helps,

Variables include that I use the heated seat most of the time, and the A/C, heat regularly, but that shouldn't be too terrribly bad for the MPG. I also drive my car perhaps a bit too much with hitting the accelerator and breaking, in my driving style, so that;s more likely to affect the fuel efficiency, but not I believe to this degree. Thoughts? Should I complain to the dealer, or have other people gotten less than the 21/28.
