Car lost ALL power at idle
All, I have a problem I have been live with for the past few months, but today it almost left me stranded! Here’s the problem I’ve experienced the last few months on my 06 base coupe with 6 speed and 70k miles: when the car is idling or when the revs drop a bit as I go from a stop, the car acts as if it quickly shut off electronically(radio shuts off, esp and a few other dummy lights come on briefly), but the motor doesn’t stop and the car resumes normal operation basically immediately.
Today was a different story: when I was idling at a stoplight, the car lost all power: the engine died and all electricity was lost immediately from car(flashers wouldn’t work, odometer shut off, engine died, etc). Turning the key on and off did nothing, but fortunately about 90 seconds later the power to the car came back on and it started up fine. I drove home about 40 miles, and if I kept the car above 2k rpms (even when stopped) there were issues whatsoever.
i checked my battery terminal connections and they are tight without any corrosion. Any other thoughts?? I am wanting to take a road trip next weekend but would like to have this sorted before I embark!
thanks for the wisdom and I did try searching for this in the forum but could not find it. However, apologies if this has been covered before and I missed it.

I had similar to that with my Ms. WHEEE. It ended up being corrosion in the positive cable. replaced with one from the salvage yard with very low miles.

Okay guys, I may be out in left field here but after having my RCM need to be re-soldered last year, I do remember there being some 'warning' signs prior to the 'parking lot: left me sit' moment" (luckily at my work gated lot).
While I was driving in the weeks leading up to the parking lot finale, I remember 'losing' power but the car recovering and not knowing what this might be (but I love my Crossfire so I'm obviously willing to put up with some quirks so I didn't think too much about it as everything seemed fine other than those milliseconds of 'what the heck?'.
Could this be something related to simply needing to solder the RCM?
Hoping this link to the thread that walked my husband through the repair works...

Thanks, all for the comments and suggestions. I’ve been traveling this week, but when I get home on Friday I’ll look into replacing th positive/negative battery cables and see where that gets me.
For the comment below from mmcandre: when you say the car lost power, do you mean the engine? Or all electrics(including things like your hazard lights, radio, odometer)? In my situation, it was like the car had no battery(which is why the cable hypotheses make sense to me), but I want to see if you experienced similar issues leading to rcm.
Thanks again,

What I experienced was VERY quick, like literally milliseconds from what I remember, almost enough to 'ignore' it because it seemed to happen so quick that you thought, did that happen? It felt like everything just 'shut down' but then all came immediately back up with nothing to let you know it really happened... I was on the highway going about 65mph the one time it happened and the other time I was going about 35mph. Both times it just felt like a complete power down but then IMMEDIATELY everything just resumed to normal and all worked fine. Like I said, I LOVE my Crossfire and I hesitate to mention something to hubby until I KNOW it's an issue for fear he'll say "that's it" I can't trust your car to get you there safely so I didn't bring these instances up until... the dreaded, go out to start my car after work and NOTHING... everyone thought it was the battery (all the helpful folks at my office who wanted to diagnose my problem) and I KNEW it couldn't be the battery as I'd just replaced about a year and a half before and this time experienced none of the tail fin craziness that accompanies a failing battery on the Crossfire. Sure enough, a quick search in the forums told me it was RCM and Hubby removed, soldered, replaced and no issues since.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks all for the help! Taking off the cables, giving the terminals/cable connectors a good scrubbing with a steel brush, then tightening back on did the trick. I found the positive cable connection at the battery wasn’t nearly as tight as the negative, so that may have been the cause. In any case the loss of power is gone but...my 3rd brake light now stays on when the lights are on and after driving for a long time(more than 1.5 hrs), the car continues to run even after the key is removed(shuts off after maybe 20 secs)! How weird is that! Any thoughts on either of those new issues?
Ps: too my battery in for testing and it passed with flying colors, so that’s not the cause....
