Srt6 suddenly lost all power and stalled
Hi guys,
Been a member here since I bought my used SRT6 a few months back. So to start of my first post I wanted to just say thank you first of all. So far thanks to all the great info here I have fixed the inter cooler pump, crazy fan relay, electric seats not working, central locking not working, etc... I'm sure I'm forgetting some other small issues.
So I've been getting the P0410 code intermittently. Actually I only get it when it rains. But other than the CEL coming on I have not experience any issues related to it.
BUT then today my car totally lost all power and stalled. I managed to pull off the road and park. It would restart but ran really rough. Like the whole car shook. And it would stall as soon I put it in gear.
So I called for a tow truck. Figured without any tools etc I would be better of to get it home and work on it there. The tow truck was 2 hours out. Ten min before the tow truck showed up I tried starting it again and it ran fine. So I called off the tow truck and drove it home really slow. Ran fine all the way home.
But now what could be the issue. No CEL. Starts up fine an runs good. But this car is my daily commuter and I don't trust it to get me to work. By the way it ran when it had the issue I'm guessing there is definitely something going on.
Sorry this is getting very long winded. Could the symptoms I described be the RCM? Obviously I have to address that still. But can that cause the car to run that bad. It still started every try, just ran really really rough. Like it was firing only 3 cylinders.
Thanks guys

Re: Srt6 suddenly lost all power and stalled
I had the exact same symptoms a few months ago at 14k miles. Decided the CPS would be the fastest repair. Changed the CPS and no change. Sent the RCM to tighed1, he repaired it, I reinstalled it and problem solved. The CPS I took out is in the car for a spare. I don't think there was anything wrong with it.

Yes. The spares that I have both showed signs of wear. The copper plate on the relay looked burned, but it turned out to be dust from making contact so many times. There was also copper dust on the inside of the plastic cover you have to remove.
Re: Srt6 suddenly lost all power and stalled
The only relay contact I have seen go bad is the Air Pump relay (Fault Code - PO410).
As I have mentioned in other posts I have been seeing more of the coils in the Fuel Pump relays going bad. Apparently the coils are opening causing the relay to not operate. AND it appears the problem can be intermittent. The windings in the coil will make/break connection so the car will/will not run or run very crappy.

Re: Srt6 suddenly lost all power and stalled
Ok found the culprit. So which relay is this? It's the most right hand side one if you have relays facing you and the big orange fuse is on the right. Can't figure out how to post the picture. Working on my iPad. But the contacts on relay #5 is definitely "burned".
Re: Srt6 suddenly lost all power and stalled
Found a picture of the RCM showing which relay is which. So it looks like the relay for the air pump which confirms the P0410 code I have been getting. I think I will send it of to you tighed1 if you still recondition them? All the other relays seems to be in perfect shape so I'm guessing the stalling was caused by something else. Actually the more I think of it the Crank positioning sensor would really match the symptoms. Ordering on from Amazon tonight.

Cheapest place I've found to get the BOSCH CPS is Amazon. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001CO...hiL&ref=plSrch

You can, and I did but it ain't no walk in the park.
I did 20 years with NCR repairing computers down to the component level, so I'm a pretty good hand at soldering too,
but those relays were/are a real challenge.
You have to buy them in lots, I bought 10, used 2, sent some to onehundred80 and the rest to tighed1.
