Our '06 coupe
Driving my 06 coupe home after purchase I could hear a very slight whine coming from the rear so following the manuals mention I changed the differential lube which was black @.47k . I used Mobil 1 synthetic 75 - 90 & now cannot detect the whine . I found a short grade 5 bolt of the matching plug hex & welded a matching nut on the end to remove the plugs which req'd a breaker bar to loosen . Both plugs are the same hex.
I've done every problem preventative thing I could from this site & some of my own --- re-soldered the relay 3 joints which were cracked , added a neg cable from batt to bell housing which seems to have added a little pizazz to charging of the new battery when driving as it cranks faster when starting ?? Replaced the cam & crank sensors & better insulated the crank sensor from heat .
To avoid lisc plt holes in the vertical front bumper face , I made some L brackets that fasten unseen to the horizontal bumper surface below the face w/ screws & double sided VHB tape .
Also made some adaptors out of 20" pieces of 2 x 10's to enable using my existing car ramps w/ the Crossfire .
I really like this little car which has had no problems prior to purchase that I'm aware of as the previous owner took very good care of it . Street rods are nice as well as the 01 Carrera we had , but for the price , this Crossfire is a fine little head turner to be enjoyed hopefully for some long trips .

Thanks Robert for the input ,
Always good to hear similar feedback about efforts to prevent problems w/ these unique cars & yes , this site is an incredibly helpful digest for Crossfire owners .
I mentioned to my wife recently , if I had the money & a place to store them , I'd buy as many Crossfires as I could cause I feel they will be very collectable some day but unfortunately I wouldn't be around to appreciate it . She just looked at me :0)
Actually I had this in mind for my wife but she didn't go for it :0( https://fingerlakes.craigslist.org/c...981481271.html
One problem is it has only one key although maybe he found the other ? Don't hesitate to negotiate price .
Another low mi one in NY CL https://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/c...976523520.html

Wow.....some really good cars for sure. Low mileage I can understand cause ours sat for a long time only using it occasionally. I now have a place to store them so I'm collecting cars now, a new hobby. I don't have my building yet but getting it soon. Have a few dollars from a house I'm selling so looking forward to buying a few more toys before I get too old.....lol. It's a little tough for me these days to get into and under the dash of that crossfire but I heal up in a day and good to go again. I know you will enjoy the car for many years, ours was just about new with 7K on the clock when we bought it. I'm a corvette guy but my wife absolutely loves the crossfire. I'm one that don't part with much cause of the careful approach to maintenance and I know what I have will last a long time. Enjoy your car and I hope you get your wife one of those pretty low mileage crossfires!

Collecting a few cars is cool but to do it now days with values of most collectables plummeting is not very profitable unless you find super buys .
I'm gradually thinning my number of vehicles & some other collectables as at my age I don't want to have my wonderful wife stuck w/ all of this should I croak .
I just sold a pristine 34 Ford Tudor for considerably less than anticipated because the market value is way down but did find a buyer for my 35 Chev 3 window street rod for what I was asking so u never know ?
The Crossfire is a pleasant find & I can't understand why I didn't stumble on one before now ? Maybe because there just aren't many around here in the boondocks of NY ?

Some nice vehicles you had! Baby boomer generation is the last I believe to have the enthusiasm. As with many things in life, it constantly changes. Enjoy that crossfire as it is a fun car to drive. I find it a lot more forgiving then the vette when it comes to suspension.

.
I am NOT
that past generations tend to admire cars currently deemed 'classics', just not whet WE (40's 50's 60's 70's) think of as 'classics'. I would not be
if in 20, 30 years from now us 'ole' timers see the 04-08 XF's going for $$$$$ (if on the road and not SKREEM inhibited)… See, just look back folks, our XF's are not an 'edsel' or 'delorean' yet!
