Infamous "Crayon" smell...
That's good info. I've own many older German vehicles, and they all had that smell. I wonder if it's been the roof liner material all this time. To be honest, its gotten rather comforting to me, like an old friend
This has been discussed a zillion times and the suggested cause has come down to the materials and or the glue used.
The suggested solutions have ranged from headliner and carpet replacement, air fresheners, bombs (did not work) to dating older girls.
A search in Google will give many results, this is like another one of Wiki-mans non original subjects for discussion.

I would get use to it, it's likely as mentioned the very materials that make up the interior. All these German manufacturers, especially from this time, used similar materials from the same vendors, they all smell the same. My Crossfire smells exactly like my E46 and E90, both older BMWs of a similar era.
No need to get grumpy. Sometimes it's ok to rehash a subject. After all, we're here to discuss our cars, and this site isn't getting the traffic it used to. Bandwidth is not an issue.
I had my headliner replaced about 13 years ago and the crayon smell is still there. My car never really smelled like crayon when I drove it everyday. Now that it has become a garage queen and sits for longer periods of time, the crayon smell is more noticeable.
