8th Annual Fall 2014 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 3, 4, 5
Front wheel in for road rash repair (Gary's savior emergency spare), and just ordered a new front set of Hankook Ventus Evo 235/40/18 from Tire rack, hope to have them fitted by end of the week.
I have also fitted a new set of carbon front brake pads, fed up with black wheel dust.
So should be ready for the Dragon in a couple of months.

We'll be ready with new rubber.. and new wheels! Originally they said 8-9 weeks on wheels.. got an email for a 9-1 ship date! And like you Andrew.. Ceramic pads on the front now with rears just waiting on me to put them on.
Gary, I'm planning to attend. I'm still working out reservations or the possibility of a roommate.
See y'all there!

We have old farts that have been around for a while and nubies that are just getting started. We love 'em all.
You're just a few hours away up I-75 to I 81 . Cut over and go east just south of Knoxville TN.
We look forward to meeting you
( us = me [George] and zip439 [Steve] and maybe maxcichon [Max] )
You are 4 hours away, so if you leave at 5 AM you should get here along with the others.
You don't want to drive interstate all the way anyway. ( I65 - I59 - I75 )

Welcome folks
There is no set schedule at this time
We have a meeting in the lobby at Fontana lodge on Friday evening around 9pm to discuss the routes and introduce the leaders
We have several routes we have run in the past and we will most likely be running these same routes again but most of those details are put together once the group leaders and myself arrive and discuss them

This is directed to the post above, and to all first-timers:
SUNDAY:
There is ALWAYS a run on Sunday, sometimes 2 or 3 depending on interests.
One option is a run to the Builtmore (most don't return from that trip, they head on towards home after).
Another is a run to the waterfalls around and south of Franklin (I have done that on the way home to Georgia.)
And sometimes we do a Cherahala / Dragon run and many break away at lunch and head home to the west/northwest.
But if you are new, I STRONGLY suggest you try to arrive Thursday evening (and then plan on leaving Sunday all or partway thru whatever run you do).
FRIDAY:
On Friday, Franc has a run planned as does Nick - so you have a choice of a more leisurely drive or a pants-on-fire run, both are (I do beleive) a bit shorter runs, I know Nick will be back to the Lodge not long after lunch. Then, I and others will be running up and down hellbender and the Dragon on Friday afternoon - so you could come along and see what bunch you fit in, in preparation for the runs on Sat and Sun!
Also, Friday is a low traffic day until about 4 or so - Sat and Sun can get crowded.
And........
Given your long drive (you live almost "where the north begins" - which is Clare, MI), I'd leave early Thursday and arrive in the evening you have a 12 hour drive and Nick, myself and a few others will be there by 4 or 5. We will probably be milling about in the parking lot if you get there by 8 or so or sitting in the Grill if you get there earlier. If I were you, I'd either plan on staying Sunday night, or spending Sunday night on the road - gonna be a LONG drive home to be going with us on Sunday as well - so sacrifice all day with us Sunday in return for Friday. MANY leave EARLY Sunday to get home for work the next day, so if you are going to miss a day, Sunday is the day to miss, IMO.
Just remember that most of us head home Sunday - it's not really a full day unless you stay Sunday night as well.
In any event, if you don't SEE us, go into the grill and ask around for "Crossfire" people. The Hyundai Genesis Coupes will be there and many of them know many of us - they will probably be able to direct you. Don't be shy, just ask around!
