8th Annual Fall 2014 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 3, 4, 5
My biggest problem is I don't get off work until 2 am Saturday morning unless I can get the day off. Ill either a) drive straight down after work or b) Ill get Friday off and head down then. And if anybody is willing to share Ill glady pay half on the room. I'm a clean nice mannered fellow if that helps any (:
I have really been wanting to go but I am gone from home Sunday night to Thurs night and hate being away from wife and two kids on weekend to. Other wise I would meet up with valk in IL. And head out on thursday.
My 7 yrs old daughter wants to go with me on the dragon. I showed he videos in youtube.
Welcome to the new members you will not be disappointed.

For those who have never been - I cannot overemphasize the importance of getting there on THursday - or Friday at the very latest. You really do not understand what you are missing - I do not know how many times people have told me, "I wish I'd got here earlier". And the Thrusday evening crowd seems to have grown over the years - running the Dragon on Friday morning is a BLAST - cause the traffic is way less and the law is not out in force!
Speaking of the law - being a dumbass will get you cited. But I have a video on my youtube channel showing my speedometer - and we run 50-60 all thru the Dragon (speed limit is 30) and IN THE VIDEO you will see two Sheriff/State SUVs sitting there watching us go by. We also went by one on a Harley - they did not flinch. I'm not saying it is always like that - but stay the HELL away from the double yellow line, keep it reasonable, do NOT follow a slow car OR one another real closely - and the law will usually leave you alone.
Watch for yourself:
*EDIT* Damn, wrong video - I took that video down 'cause you could see my speedometer! Here is the same run, shot from the back of DirtySouthSRT's car - you can STILL see the LEO at :51 seconds on the side, and you can clearly see, we ain't doin no 30mph - as the Z3 is having a hard time in the curves. (He never came to another Dragon - I feel bad about that.
On the OTHER hand, I was nabbed for 8 miles over on the Skyway (cost me $218) but there is a story behind that, had I kept up with the group, I believe I'd have gotten away with it. Had I gone thru there alone at 8-10 over, I believe I'd have never been stopped.
See, you need to get there Thurs or Friday - especially if you plan on "slaying the Dragon" - there are a lot of things you need to know about the weekend, and you will not learn them by reading threads here. It's a "got to be there and talk to the rest of us, or follow our lead" kind of thing.
And if you plan on just driving the speed limit all weekend, you STILL Need to be there at LEAST Friday night, there is so much going on and so many routes and things to do/see and people to meet - please don't cheat yourself from a great weekend !
And again, if this is your first time - thanks for being a part of our weekend. The more of us there are, the more fun it is for all.

For what it is worth, if you cant be there for the Friday evening meeting at 9pm, you BETTER be there by 830am on Saturday - 'cause not soon after that, we all split up in groups and are gone.

Of course it did. His exact words were, "I heard you guys coming, but couldn't get turned around in time..."
I did pretty good, six Dragons with the rest of you, and at least five times up there on my own without a ticket.
Given what I get away with up there, I was due. Ya gotta pay to play.

) We pass the second LEO at 8:31 - by then, we were chasing that VW I let by earlier - hitting it a bit harder at that point!

Thas OK..... Kind of a stretch to say that you are responsible tho.
I'm gonna ride with you a time or two and if you get arrested I'll get a chance to drive you car (hopefully not in rain this time) and on the DRAGON.

Pizza you got that ticket because you were not driving fast enough! I was in Jim's back pocket so I got through right behind him, then you come along - it was like a fish in a barrel. Surprised it was $216 for 8 mph over though, wow.
