I hate that I missed this, but I am very happy to hear that it went well.
Well, "Super Well", from what I have been reading and hearing. I had a total of seven phone calls from those of you attending during the event. It ALMOST feels like I was there....

That said, let us see what happens.
It is so exciting to hear that the event went well for all. I look forward to meeting some attendees who will also be at the fall Dragon. Andi hope, in the future, my life gives me the time to once again enjoy Eureka Springs next year. And for many years to come.
I support Franc's position on this issue. We have 2 weekend GTG's in Fontana (Spring & Fall), The Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, and now a summer week-long event in Eureka Springs. That's five major events for us. More than likely as many, if not more, as any other group of car enthusiasts. Adding a 6th major event might be a stretch. Now attending all 5 probably isn't going to happen for most of us - I for one see attending a Fontana GTG only 1x each year. More than likely the fall event. I've attended Carlisle 1x, and hope to make a Dream Cruise GTG in the next year or 2.
But I could see Eureka Springs continuing as the CAA event and, maybe every 3rd year it goes somewhere else - probably out west to give our west coast members an event near their backyard. The ones held in Colorado & the Northwest sounded like they were successful events. Or maybe the 6th event is a west coast, long weekend GTG, making it more regional for our members in that part of the country.

Funny, I was there for CAA6 and yet, many of the photos posted here are of places I don't remember going to last time.
As I've said before, there is SO MUCH to that area that you can't see it all in one or two trips - not sure you can EVER see it all unless you live there.
I part company with Franc and ded on this, we can support many meets each year. A "great meet" is not necessarily one that attracts 50 or 75 cars - great meets, for me, are not defined by numbers but by the people who attend. (Maybe Woodward is different, I'd enjoy that even if I went alone - it is an event all unto it's own.) And remember, this is the third, not second, Eureka meet we've had - a few of us went there last year and, I am sure, had a great time.
THIS BRINGS ME TO ANOTHER POINT: I was getting SO depressed over missing CAA8. I'd wanted to go back for TWO YEARS, and then stuff in my personal life got in the way. Kleito had planned a "Snake" meet months before for this past weekend, it was only four hours from me and only a two day event - I managed to attend, late Friday night, I went to bed knowing I'd get up EARLY and drive up before they left for the day - we had six cars. It was good medicine for me and I"m no longer depressed. But the lesson is this: Anyone can plan and hold a meet. You never know what will turn into an event (I'm sure Greg and Sherri had no idea that Eureka Springs would go over so well that we'd go back.)
The Dragon is already, really, shrinking into a Fall-only event. Look at attendance in the spring - the Canadians and Midwesterners already can't come to spring with the weather threats that time of year (and when Easter falls on that weekend, attendance really suffers - too bad too , cause the place is deserted on Easter weekends. ) But we are gonna keep having spring for those who can come.
I think THE MORE MEETS the BETTER. Even if it takes from attendance at my favorite meet (Fall Dragon), I can live with it. Of course, dont' get me wrong, the Fall Dragon is where and when I see most of my longtime XF friends.
And let me say it again - the meets are more about seeing my friends than driving roads or seeing various attractions.

Here is a link to the CAA8 video i created on you tube. It is 4K so please select 2160p which is 4K when watching to get the full quality. Also best to let it fully load before watching to prevent it buffering as it is a very large 1 gb video file.
