I just got off the phone with Tracy (Chef at Fontana) and he told me I am welcome to use any pots from the kitchen that I may need. Yaaay! It is finally all coming together!

Thank you all for your support of this event.

It is $320 ($300+tax) for the rental and we will have it from 4pm until Midnight. They will have tables, chairs, and linens for 70 people set up for us. Best of all, they will take care of all of the clean up.

Pizzaguy got a list of people in our group who have Cabins and my friend Don Thomas (CajunXFire) apparently has one. I spoke with Don and he is more than willing to let us use his Cabin to heat up the food. Best of all, Don and I are traveling up together, so we will arrive at the same time. So, that issue is solved!

I am going to try to arrive by 4:00 to allow plenty of time to heat up the food. I know we already discussed donations in this thread. There are over 50 attendees on the list, so that makes a "suggested donation" of $6 per person. If you would like to donate, post here or send me a PM so I can kind of keep track of it all. You can bring cash to the event or if you wish, you can send money to my PayPal account: mom2kkj at g-mail.

**Note: No one is being required to donate towards the room since this event was advertised as free. However, as was mentioned previously, donations towards the cost of the room would be greatly appreciated. Once I have reached the $320, I will update this thread accordingly, as the Gumbo itself was always going to be "our gift to you all" since so many of you have offered friendship and help with our cars whenever it was needed. We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of this group and it is our desire to "give back" to the community that has given us so much.
I'm in for the $6. Will bring the cash with me.

I'll give ya 10 bucks when I see you Thursday.
Got the French bread today, 20 loaves. That should do to feed the hungry hoard, I hope.

Count me and David in $10 each
Any extra can be considered a tip for your generosity !!'
Some have mentioned a small kitchen in the chestnut room but as I remember it only has a refrigerator not a stove but you may already have checked on that
Once again thank you for all your efforts
I know this became something much bigger than you thought ...actually it became much bigger than any of us could've ever imagine but what a way to kick off the weekend

For those of us who are not "regulars"; Where is the "Chestnut Room" and/or the other locations being mentioned?

Directions from leaving the lodge.

From the lodge go directly to the main road (HWY 28) and turn right. Go about an 1/8th of a mile and turn right again and park. (It's the right turn after you get onto HWY 28)

Super easy

I call it "the old hospital" cause that's what it was when the dam was being built. Marie swears there is not even a SINK over there.

I just got off the phone with Tracy (Chef at Fontana) and he told me I am welcome to use any pots from the kitchen that I may need. Yaaay! It is finally all coming together!
It does not surprise me they are being that helpful, but I'm still surprised. Marie says they have us, the ATD group, a big wedding saturday and miscellaneous vacationers and hikers. They are so totally booked....

They have a small sink, a fridge which we can use (small) and that's it. They will of course have tables, chairs and table cloths as well as trash cans.

Maybe you can heat the gumbo on a fire pit..........heh, heh........
