I hope you will be able to make it, if not I certainly understand. It is far, probably a full 2 day trip for you. We travel to Williamsburg, Virginia about once a year and we do it over 2 days (though it is really only 18-20 hours of driving). If I recall, you are a few hours from there (we are friends with Tom).
Crystal,

First, You will never make everyone happy. Don't fret, just make it fun for those who do show up. And if you don't no worries. This crowd will find a way to have fun. Tthey always do.

Second, as I have repeatedly stated, you're hosting this is a big deal. It should be flavored to your group's locale and tastes. That is the true spirit of the CAA since the original here in St Louis.

Suggestions are one thing. Complaints and demands are something else. Frankly anyone who votes to change the locale or the flavor, but hasn't volunteered to host one themselves, isn't qualified to vote.

Although it is unlikely I can get away to attend, I support your efforts and that of your group. I say, make it special. Make it unique. Make it St. Francis LA!!!!!!

Make it so guys and gals like me regret we didn't attend.

Why? He has planned a CAA event.... The first one (I'm new, so I don't know if he did one or more than one)

Thanks Crystal.
Yes, We, the Gateway Crossfire Group, only did one. ONE WAS ENOUGH.

Actually, I didn't state an Opinion, I stated a fact. And if you understood my words correctly I didn't vote on where or how the CAA should be.

Just the Opposite.

The original concept was that the CAA NOT be hosted in the same place but travel about the country every year,,,; so more Crossies could have a chance to go. As the First CAA Sponsor the only rules we set were that there were no rules but a tradition of passing the torch to any group who wanted to host the next one. The West Coast region got theirs in RENO. The west also had one in Colorado.

Sorta like the Olympics. Never consecutively in the same place, or following the same format. Which as a Forum member for 10 years, and as one of the founding hosts of the CAA, is a set of facts I feel I have the credibility to place before the current group. Given the in warranted animosity and confusion about the CAA concept, I took the initiative in an effort to clarify.

My apologies to anyone who may still yet be confused.

Rules? We have rules? I thought this was a volunteer car club where we helped each other with our cars and sometimes did fun things together.

We don't need no stinkin rules!

Thanks, glad you were able to get a room at the SFI. What type of room did you book? I don't need the room number, only the type of room. I have to keep track of these so if we have any cancellations as the date gets closer, I will know which rooms are still available.

I think we will wind up with quite a lot of people. It is still really early and we are up to 12 cars. I believe this is the first CAA in the Southeast, so we will surely pull many people from the Southeast, some of which will have never attended a CAA due to distance. I need to do some more promoting of the Event.

To everyone who has already provided the type of room you have booked, thank you! I wanted to clarify that I do not need your room number, I just need the type of room.

One reason is because I have only blocked 5 Two-Queens & 5 Kings at the Best Western, so I will need to know if I need to add Two-Queen rooms or King rooms to our allocation (they required me to specify).

And for the St. Francisville Inn, I need to track the rooms because in the event of a cancellation at the last-minute, it would be good to know which rooms are still available so I can try to get those filled by someone. We must have all of the rooms at the St. Francisville Inn booked by those in our group.

Thanks to everyone who has already RSVP'd! It is so far looking to be a nice-sized event.
