Default convertible top care

What do you guys use on your top to clean and lengthen life. Want to do something to protect such an expensive part of the car.

Here you go. This stuff is the best, and used by most members here.

The 303 protectant is phenomeal...a word of caution when you go to apply the 303 protectant be sure and put some of the wide blue painters tape along any surface that is near the top; rear glasss, door glass toneau cover, etc as there will be over spray even on a calm day or in a garage. if you get some on any of the glass surfaces something like Invisible Glass cleaner will remove it easily. Also let it dry in between light coat applications. You won't believe how well the water beads up the next time you wash your XF or it rains...PJ

Ditto that!

I use trash bags and clamp them in the windows and close the top on them to protect the finish and windows. I then apply several THIN coats over about 2 days.

Love the stuff!

(The protectant, that is. Never had to cleam my top cause it is covered in protectant and lives in the garage.)

If you have a " West Marine" in your area check with them for the 303 PRODUCTS. I purchased a bottle here in the Raleigh area last week end and applied it ON Saturday/ Top looks like new on my 05 limited roadster.

Agreed on the prep work. I use old newspapers and use that as a lining between the top and where it meets with the car and glass. I put some on mine about 18 months ago and the top still looks great and beads up well when water hits it.

It's great to get good advise on something you haven't done before. It saves you many costly mistakes.
Thanks to all.

No kidding, it's a fool that has to learn from his own mistakes. Of course there may be a few things in this world that someone hasn't yet screwed up.
