Bought mine Friday, noticed the line Saturday. I was happy thinking it was another centerline styling cue.

Please add me to this list as my roadster had an identical mark on the canvas roof, i'm also concerned that it will wear through and start leaking.

At the moment we have approx. 20 people in germany that report a fabric problem with the soft top. The soft top fabric will be pleated when you open, or close the soft top. After approx. 2-3 years from new there is a horizontal line in the fabric. The fabric gets weak and there is the possibility that it will break, tear or leak.

Here are pictures that show the problem.

One forum member has got a expert opinion from the german DEKRA which is a Association for Technical Inspections. The DEKRA testifies that the problem is caused by a construction fault and that the problem will return even if you change the complete soft top, because it's caused by the soft top mechanism.

So what we want to know is if there are other people out there with the same problem. Our goal is to find a solution in cooperation with Chrysler.

If you also have this problem we would really appreciate if you attend to the list.

List of cars outside germany:
1.
2.
3.
...

We're also interested in how you solved the problem if the problem is known.
And if the costs were met by any warranty?

You can add my 2007 with around 22,000 miles

Add me to the list. I know what the problem is. It's not caused by the top going down. There is nothing rubbing along it either. The problem occurs when the top goes up. The canvas "creases" as it starts to go up. Have someone else hold the switch to put up the top and watch the top come up. You will see it "crease" in that one spot as it comes up. I watched it happen yesterday as I was trying to figure out the problem. I assume it will eventually wear out the fabric and fail requiring an new top.

I have two roadsters and do not have the crease wear problem. I use a product called Waxoyl on my fabric tops. Not designed for it but it strengthens fabric and waterproofs. I use it on leather too.It stops corrosion elsewhere. google it. gary

I use the Autoglym kit twice per year. Mine's an '06 and I don't have a problem either. This may be due to the fact that I live in the UK and opportunities to put the top down are fewer than elsewhere lol!

Given my mileage is at 66684 (under the 70k), I seem to have a WW fluid leak, and the upper windshield trim whistles while the car works, I decided it was time to take the car in about the top as well.

They are full with appointments through Saturday and I'm leaving that morning for RME of CAA, so I stopped by to lodge the issues and set up an appointment for the 1st of Aug and made them record the mileage on the service call.

For now the rep said they will have to take a picture of the area when I come in that day and send it off to Chrysler to see what they say. So begins the drawn out denial process I'm sure. I'll post as I have updates.

Until then I have to hope the bug population in Kansas decides to bed down or was killed by the heat; plus put some rainx type stuff on the windshield to help the buildup (riiight)

I have an opinion that this canvas top fault is caused by keeping the top down for prolonged periods of time. I began noticing this defect in my top earlier this summer when I had the top down quite a bit. I'd pull in and leave the top down for several hours because I was going to leave again. When I began noticing it, I started putting the top back up as soon as I got home....It's hardly noticeable now...
