When I began noticing it, I started putting the top back up as soon as I got home....It's hardly noticeable now...
Good idea and somewhat substanciated, but seldom do I leave the top down for prolonged periods. Another local member actually watched when the top was going down and saw the problem is at a certain point the top creases at that spot. I also noticed this problem on his car and his car is a garage princess and seldom driven compared to others and I'm certain never stored/kept in the down position for very long.

Not sure what the problem is. Can someone send me a pic so I can check mine. I tried to go to the German forum but I can not read German.

Just back down the thread entries until you see the list, I think it is #4 or so. This is the thread with the list. just go to page one and look for the list.

This crease is caused when the top goes down. On the way down, it folds there temporarily then straightenes back out. If you watch the inside of the top, you will see what I am talking about.

Well the "battle" has started. Went to the dealership for a few things. 1) the fabric top, 2) auto-lock/rolling lock not working, 3) top leaking in rain and car washes, 4) told them windshield trim (top) whistles and needed to be re-tapped.

1) Said they would take pictures and send to Chrysler for their ruling
2) Said they had it working
3) Said not uncommon for car washes to cause some leaking - didn't address other issue other than to say the had run water over top and didn't see anything. The top did not appear wet at all.
4) Said they couldn't hear anything...this could be heat related so I'll wait till cooler temps

I knew 3 was a BS response, but noticed when I drove away the doors (2) didn't auto lock.
When checking out, I asked service manager how long he expected for a decision on the fabric issue and he said "I told you it wasn't covered". I said I don't understand how when I have bumper to bumper even after I get 70k.

Made a call to customer service number they provided and the nice lady said they should have taken pictures and let Chrysler decide. Said I could go back or go to another dealer. I went to where I bought the car, out of my way, and they sent the service manager out with camera. I thought now we're getting somewhere...he said it's just a mark I said no it isn't, and that customer service said he was to take a picture and submit it. Just when I started to say, if you don't want to do it I'll take it higher, he took the pictures.

My recommendation, especially those still under warranty, is to go to your dealer and file a complaint about the mark. If they refuse to acknowledge it, call customer service at 1-800-992-1997 and say car complaint and file a complaint with them. If enough of us do it, it MIGHT help.

So for now my car is gassed and put away until I get resolution or just cancel what remains of my extended "bumper to bumper" prior to going past 70k...if I would even get anything.

Well, this is the last update...

Chrysler will not cover the fabric as it is out of warranty and the wrap warranty only covers the electrical/mechanical; which is the main reason I got it.

The dealer where I went said there is nothing they can do and about the only thing we (all of us) can do is continue to call the 800 number and pester them about it being a design flaw. With only about 66 of us, it would have to be a lot of calling to get their interest and even then I doubt it because it would be too costly for them to concede.

Oh well, it was worth a shot.

The number is 800-992-1997 if anybody is interested, I have to move on to another warranty issue.

Hey Guys:
I was cleaning my top the other day using the 303 cleaner and water proofer. The fold in the fabric where the defect is almost completely disappeared. The 303 apparently puffs up the fabric. It even made the folded parts on the sides almost disappear. Don't know if it last but it does make a great change in appearance after doing the cleaning job. I will keep and eye on it to see if it stays looking that way. I have not put the top down since cleaning, time will tell. Thought it may be of interest with the recent comments about trying to get Chrysler to repair under warranty.

Dave,

I Googled 303 convertible top cleaner, but got a wide selection of products. What is the specific product you are using? Now that the back window appears to be secure, I'd like the rest of the top to look good. Mine, like nearly every Roadster top I've seen, has the fold marks on the side.

Thanks!

I have had the same experience. This spring I started noticing this defect and now it is gone. The only thing i can attribute this to is the fact that I cleaned and protected the fabric. My top is up and down almost on a daily basis and this mark has been gone now for several months....

1. I don't leave the top down for extended periods.

2. I cleaned the top and brushed it lightly while doing so.

Exact same problem.
Identified while XF was under warranty. Now out of warranty, but still going through the paces with my dealer. Pics, send to Chrysler, etc.
The dealership absolutely agrees with the problem, but.....
08 Roadster. 42000 kms.
