Default Do you need to manually push up the top and hold it about 6 inch?

I'm not sure if it's normal.

When I want to put top down:

1- I turn the handle and release the top from the windshield frame
2- Manually push up the top with my hand and hold it about 6 inch from the windshield frame
3- Press and hold center button
4- When the top began to go down then I can remove my hand

To put top back on:
A- Press and hold center button
B- When the top is almost up, manually push up the top with my hand and hold it about 6 inch from the windshield frame
C- When the tonneau cover is closed, I can remove my hand
D- and turn the handle to closed the top

is the steps 2 - 4 - B and C are normal operation?

I was looking at these video YouTube - Chrysler Crossfire Convertible Roadster, Car Review. and notice that he just push up the top and they stay there.

It seems some do and some don't. However in most ofour cars the top stays up after you release it and push.

It may have to do with stiffness of the cover or just the way it was made. When it does that, holding the button andholding it up ain't fun.

If your car is under warranty, I would have it checked. To be honest, I'm not sure what exactly holds the top frame up when you extend it.

I test drove several Roadsters this summer, only ONE did what yours is doing. I believe there is a worn spring or tension adjustment out of whack with your top.

BUT, I just spent 20 minutes with the service manual and cannot support my position with any reference in the service manual.

I believe that once the top handle is activated and the top pushed up enough to cause the windows to drop, no other assistance is necessary. At least that's how mine operates, up or down.

Pop the handle, push the button, it goes down. Push the button again, it goes back up, re-latch the handle.

BTW: when closing, hold the button long enough after re-latching the handle and the windows go back up automatically. Kool.

I have opened a few and all including mine will stay in the up position after you unlatch the top from the wind shield. Maybe a worn spring or something? Let us know ur outcome.

I have to monitor mine on the way down. When the top is almost to the windshield, it sometimes likes to pop down and smack the top of the windshield. I just hold my hand up there to make sure it doesn't do this. I don't have issues when taking the top down.

It's always a good idea to hold it in your hand and make sure it doesn't bang against the windsheild. When I test drove my vehicle, the stupid sales man slammed the top down against the windsheild so hard I though for sure he broke something! I not so kindly told him, if u broke something you lost the sale & I would gladly express that to him manager! Needless to say, I used a different sales man after that. =)

Mine had no such issues: push it up once, let go of it, and then push the button to lower the top.
