New to the forum from MD
Hi everyone! I just bought my wife Amy a 2005 Roadster Limited with 34,800 miles for Christmas. I always had the fun cars and she had the Suburban. So I told her to find something fun and sexy for her. She found the Aero Blue and fell in love! I'm sure the questions will start over the next few days. First one, where can I get a owners manual?
I wash mine with plain water, immediately followed with a blow-dry using a leaf blower.
( Usually only 1 or 2 times a year, or if it was driven in the rain, other than that I just use Meguier's Detail Spray )
I use 505 on the top, works great !

Welcome to the new XF Roadster owners! And some advice - listen to Alaxfire + onehundred80. Good answers all around. ( I am a no-knowing who just loves my XF)

Hi I just bought my 2005 Roadster limited with 45000 miles Tuesday and pick it Thursday. My wife and I put about 60 miles on it Thursday and just love this car. We can't wait for this spring and summer to ride around on the easter shore with the top down.
WOW! More new roadster afficianados all the time! Pizzaguy - have you seen this? This is roadster power! (Sooo - how do we use this power? Pizzaguy will figure this out - I hope).

Welcome all.
I don't know how nit-picky you are.
I either wash it in the driveway with soapy water and a clean sponge or go to the self serve with quarters and towels. Go light with the brush and make sure there's nothing in the bristles.
As for the top, you'll find convertable top cleaner at the auto parts store.
There's lots of Crossies in Kingwood but mine looks the best...and it's black.

I'm on it, Alicia!
For the top, I use 303 products, to get you started:
303® Fabric Convertible Top Kit
You won't use the cleaner often, (I've had the same bottle for three years) but the protectant you will. So, the next time you order, just order the protectant. I protect mine twice a year, before each Dragon. A bottle of Protectant should last a year: Three coats the first time, three coats six months later. Tape over the rear window, and apply garbage bags to the car to keep the 303 slime off the waxed, painted surfaces. I think I have pictures of what I call "The Aunt Jemima Treatment" in my gallery. Three light coats applied over about two days (let it really dry and set between coats) will keep the top BLACK and slick and keep any dirt, etc. from adhering to it. I can SOAK my top, wipe it with towels, and it's usually dry in a few minutes! The water just beads up on it in light rain.
To wash the car, I use the "two bucket method" as described in a thread in the Detail/Exterior forum.

For the major details in the Spring and Fall, (again, before each Dragon), I use Dawn Dish soap to wash the car, then a Meguiars Claybar kit to smooth the finish, then a wash with Meguiars "car shampoo", then I apply a coat of Mequiars NXT 2.0 Wax. (A second coat of wax seems to be a waste of time.)
Weekly washes are done with the Car Shampoo and the two bucket/two mitt method described in the link. Detail spray and a wipe down follows the weekly wash, using microfiber towels.
I also carry microfiber towels (from AutoZone or any other parts store, or WalMart) and a bottle of Meguiars Ultimate Detail Spray to keep the car looking good while away from home.
