Default 2005 crossfire convertible limited

New to this site and a new crossfire owner. I love it but I discovered there is a drain on the battery b/c I had to jump it so of course the tech @ the dealership said the battery had a bad cell. - right New battery - $150 and 3 days later it wouldn't start so I got it to the dealership and they hooked it to their LIMITED diagnostic computer and indeed they did verify the drain. So I'm told it needs to be hooked to another diagnostic tool that will reset the sensor. If this is true that would be a great fix. It's a 2005 convertible limited, 25K miles. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A BATTERY DRAIN ON A NEW BATTERY?? ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. Must admit I'm bummed. Just bouge.ht it 3 weeks ago. If you know about this or could help with this please email me at pstachler@gmail.com -------I just registered on this site so I don't know much about it. I'm older as well and I have a difficult navigating this site.

I also read a thread that their battery drain was related to the trunk security system and when it was disabled the problem stopped. I think they said trunk security. Wish I could find that thread again.
I just HOPE someone knows about this b/c I'm really bummed out.

Thanks so much, Pam

Pam.. click on your name and select "all post".. that will bring up the thread you started and posted in. this is the third one you've mentioned this problem in and responses will be just as spread out making it even more difficult to track.

I apologize for so many postings - guess they are called postings. Not gonna post anything else until I figure out how this works. It must be frustrating to other folks and that is NOT my intentions. Just never been on a forum before. Thx for all the advice. Pam

Actually Pam it will make it harder for you to find the advice we give.. Yes we like things in one posting for "us"... but we do make exceptions and try to help those who are new to the whole forum game.

Pam - when I first had my roadster I had the continuing dead battery problem. Dealership was stymied. They replaced the battery which was under warranty. Dead battery kept happening. Turned out it was the fact that the trunk lid was not closed firmly. It looked closed, but was not. Since that time, when carrying in groceries for me, my husband has not closed the trunk firmly (several times) and - dead battery. He has since promised that this will not happen again - but now I try to check after he has been helpful..... This is the only mechanical downer I have found with the roadster.

Alicia

PS - When I had my MGB Roadster, my husband ran into it in the garage - twice. It was a side entry garage and he would misjudge the turn. My mechanic then asked me 'are you still married to this guy?' The answer is yes - despite his proclivity for attack on my roadsters.

Also, its great if you discover a fix, that you immediately post it and thank those that helped. Don't let this thread die, or all three, without sharing what you've learned. I too just inherited a 2005 conv crossfire. Six speed and I am in love! She has some miles but I'm going to enjoy makinger her track/road ready. My Battery has a crack in the top and leaks acid on to the terminal. No problems yet, but the thread was titled2005 Crossfire convertible limited so I checked it out. Just so happens I'll be shopping for a battery and I would love advice on if a Walmart Battery will suffice in my mostly Mercades Engine bay. I found some at Autozone, Advandced etc that have 5 year warranty. Any reson I should go to the dealer for this battery? Any reason I shouldn't? Im comming out a 335i n54 and there were only a few aftermarket parts that would work as designed or last. I will certainly use the search bar next to see if there are already battery threads in place.
