Very well said, "Drive like the Wind", there may not be a tomorrow.

I hate to say it...but at your age, with a SRT6...I'd be surprised if this is the only time you lose your license. I'm just speaking from experience...nothing bad about you!

I think most of that will buff out. Just kidding, it does look like you got the radiator too.

he goes to turn out of a parking lot and gives it a little gas, he claims it wasn't full throttle the thing just took off... gets sideways and he over corrected and went over the opposite curb destroying the chin spoiler. then kind of up/bottomed out on a sandy hill which pushed everything in and left a good few scratches to say the least. i was tempted to just throw a punch into the side of his head but i was more worried about the health of the car.

i'll keep updating with pictures as i make progress.

I could have done that early on...
I've had many quick cars and the x is the first one I ever had to get used to...
Good luck and keep us posted.

What I would have said:

I threw about a hundred punches into the side of his head.

Then I would not be as and a little more with a good dose of !

IIRC, replacement body panels come unpainted. You'll probably need a new front bumper and you'll probably have to pay somebody to paint it. Actually, your "buddy" should pay for it. He's paying for all the repairs, right?

Just because he has no money doesn't mean he has no responsibility. I'm not a lawyer but I've seen enough episodes of Judge Judy to know that he's responsible for the damage to your car. If it were me, I'd take him to small claims court. If he doesn't show up, you'll win a summary judgment. If he does show up, you'll win anyway.

Good luck with the repairs and keep us posted.

same thing my dad said, but he is my friend and that would screw him over way more that it would screw me over to fix it. i'm sure he will owe me a huge favor in the future.

A favor. I love it. If you let me drive your car at Mid-Ohio for a track day I'll buy you lunch. Insurance? anyone? Call the cops, tell them you messed up because it was on private property, have a report made, and make him turn it in on HIS insurance. It won't cost him that way, you won't get the points, and your car will be fixed right.

i freaked out because 1: my license was suspended and it was my car. you think they're gonna believe someone else was driving? 2: car wasn't even registered yet never mind inspected.

i know i should have stopped to think about it but i wasn't in the right state of mind. my initial reaction was "we need to get out of here" and then figure it out. i definitely could have handled that much better. but, not much i can do about that now...

i just got back in from doing a little more work, i really need someone with a good set of tools and the know how to come help, its definitely not a one man job.

i'm thinking once i get everything off and really get a good look at what is wrong i'm probably going to have to send it to a shop anyway to get it fixed, its looking worse now that i can see more than it did before.

i've been starting to get impatient with the work so i called him up,
he doesn't have car insurance now because he lives on campus and can't bring his car there until he's a junior.

so looks like i'm in a pickle here. i've been going insane not being able to drive for a month and the car is still sitting in the driveway un-fixed.

i'm gonna just have it towed to an auto body and get an estimate on the cost of repairs. i've been saving a ton of money just from not driving for a month so hopefully i'll be able to just take the hit and move on. ($600 from canceling insurance for 2 months, $500 from prorating my extended warranty on my trade in, and the obvious gas money that i'm not spending. which i'd say is probably around $300).

so i'm hoping that it won't cost me more than $1,200 to fix but that's looking like a long shot.

well it took this long for me to get it in to a shop that i trust to work on my car,

and they got it all taken apart and didn't give me an estimate for 3 days. so i was starting to get ticked that they were taking so long.

but turns out i wish i never got the estimate. just over $5,000 total. pretty much every little thing that could have broke did just that. so it'll probably be in there for a while because i really just don't have 5k+ just laying around. i talked to the guy that owns and runs it as well as does a lot of the work there and they are going to order the parts ($2,300 or so) and store the car in garage in the back with the ferraris, vipers, bentleys, ect. that they always have coming into the shop. until i give him the green light to start the labor.

I would not call that person a buddy anymore... if he refused to make up for the damage he has done to my property... I do not understand this... I have crashed a car that was not mine... once and I did more than make up for it...

Well it happens, but you brought this one yourself giving an irresponsible and inexperienced driver... probably close age to yourself drive such a vehicle... how much experience did he have anyways? 1 month of driving?
