Here's a pic of the same opening on my SL55 intake - it's huge (I can fit my arm up to the elbow thru there) but reduces down to the 3" intake tube. - Best part is I have a similar 3" intake tube on the drivers side. (Would that make it a 6" intake?)
So thats what you guys are doing who run the sl55 passenger side intake tube, its just kinda squashed in there?

Are you are running the other tube on the passenger side through the core support? Its even more tiny. If so any pics?

It's not squashed. Thats the size and form of the stock SL55 intake tubes, it just slides in there nice and neat - no modifications required.

For the other side I used a heat gun and formed the plastic opening to fit. I plan on using Steve Helliums idea of a 3" radiator type hose to fit thru the opening and then slide the plastic intake tube onto it. I think that will end up being a little cleaner.

That' why I feel there is plenty of room to run a huge silicone 90 thrugh the opening and why NW decided on only one intake tube - the other opening is a bit smaller.

Brian, Thanks. I am working on my SL55 intake now and will go get some 3" radiator hose for the driver side.

You guys with SRT's must have a different radiator support and front bumper support than non SRT's then.

I have a N/A with a NeedsWings......There's no restriction for me.

It is the SAME CAR! The SRT has the same radiator mounts the same crank the same Blaw Blaw Blaw. It must just be how people look and discribe things that seem to make them sound so different. Look up the differences between the Standard and SRT models at the Chrysler site.
Anytime you change the shape of a round tube you restrict air flow. Has anyone out there heard of a "Plasma Cutter"? Cuts trough that sheet metel like butter and leaves a beutiful edge. Also on a system like this or mine being doublot Twin as I like to call mine you can have as much as 50% blockage on one side and still be equal to the 3" intake.

I agree. The driver side hole is REALLY small. I still think it would be trick to see someone with an aftermarket radiator thats about 1-2 inches thinner on each side, allowing for a true 3" dual intake that passes through both sides and remains a perfect circle. But then youd also have to change the stock fan which is super-badass. I really lookied at it for the first time yesterday and was like WOW. The shroud design is awesome.

Looks like no one has committed for sure yet, if I'm wrong please post here and let me know. People need to commit, and post here, if they want one!

The problem with internet car knowledge is that if ONE guy does something that others think looks "Real Cool" everyone does it, they do no reserach themselves. Why not wrap your whole interior so you don't need to use the Air Conditioning anymore? Man some of your guys' ideas are so unbelievable. Thats why checker auto and Pep Boys have that section of bolt on garbage for the Rice Tuners. Also why is everyone one of you so affraid of admitting you own a Chrysler and stop putting all the Mercedes Benz stickers on your cars? I will challenge any one or group of you to discuss the design and building of the Crossfire but I will not let you say it is a Mercedes. I have owned Mercedes and not "entry" level ones, now I choose to drive a Chrysler Crossfire and I am not ashamed of it. Rather proud that I can do what I please.

Talk about internet car knowledge! I'm an engineer, so I know a few things about engines and heat dissipation. For one, headers are wrapped to keep the heat generated by the cylinders in, to create higher cylinder temperatures which in turn, inducts more cold air. This technique is often used by race car owners. On the street, this increased cylinder temp. will cause more wear and tear on the engine and therefore reduced longevity and quicker oil viscosit break down. Header wrap simply acts as an insulator. Nothing really more than treated fiberglass. On an induction system, this wrap will help prevent the absorbtion of heat by the aluminum. The incoming air will continue to cool the aluminum from the inside and the header wrap will prevent the heat from the outside. Aluminum does disipate heat quickly, but it also absorbs heat just as quickly. So, if the induction system created heat, you wouldn't really want to use header wrap, you'd want the aluminum to disipate it quickly. That isn't the case however. The heat comes from the air surrounding the engine; therefore, using header wrap would help keep the induction air a bit cooler.

As for those of us with the Mercedes badges, well, I for one know my car is a Chrysler and for that reason, I left all Chrysler badging in place. I also know that my car is a Mercedes mechanically. All of the components including the engine, transmission, hoses, electrical system, switches, computer modules, and etc. have Mercedes/AMG stamps and part numbers. It is a Chrysler by design and name only. So, to make the connection between the two once joined companies, I added simple, unobtrusive badges fitting for an automobile that had its engine hand crafted in an AMG shop located in Germany! Like it or not, our Chryslers are Mercedes vehicles. More accurately, our Chryslers are Daimler/Chrysler vehicles.

I didn't put the Mercedes Logos all over my Crossfire - Mercedes-Benz did!!

It has more Mercedes-Benz stars stamped on every single part then there are Chrysler logos on the entire car.

As a matter of fact - there are more AMG logos on my Crossfire then Chrysler emblems.

Take your Crossfire to the Chrysler dealer for repair - more then likely they will stare at it and go ...huh??.... Take a Crossfire part to your dealers parts department and ask them where the Chrysler part number is - ...huh?? If they can look-up the part number and find it - chances are they have to place an order with the Michigan - who then places and order with Mercedes, who ships the part to Michigan...you get my point...

I am sure many have been through this - I needed a simple part for my front brake, the dealer couldn't even find the part#, I went next door to the MB dealer - told him I had a 2003 SLK32 - he put the part in my hand and charged me $6.00. Same with my spring pads - same with the IAT sensor.

And I'm lucky - the local Chrysler dealer has a great service tech. They call him the "German" service technician. (Crossfire & Sprinters) He fixed my injector issue - and he's good friends with the senior mechanic at the MB dealer next door - calls him on the cell phone to get the 411.

Chrysler may have sold the Crossfire - but that's about it. When most of the factory warranties have expired - I'm willing to bet the MB dealers will gladly repair your Chrysler vehicle.

BTW - I like Chrysler products -- I almost purchased a new 300C SRT8 before I purchased my Crossfire

I was able to get a 2&1/2" OD, 2&1/4" ID hose through that hole, but it was tight. With a little trimming you could probably go bigger.

I'm not a big Chrysler fan, but I too was looking over the 300C SRT8. They are very nice car's, my wife would have probably took it over though. The main thing that put me in the SRT6 rather than the SRT8 was the gas milage of the 300 and you don't see very many SRT6's on the road like the 300's.
