Why not adapt the pipes to fit perfectly to the inlets? I'm going to look into it. Thanks for the sarcasm.

thoughts?
It would be interesting to see if that would make the SC whine a bit - but I think the location of the airboxes might prevent it. Aluminum inlet pipes would also make it difficult to to remove for filter cleanings. Perhaps an aluminum Y-Pipe from the TB to airboxes would do the trick?

I'm modifing a used SL55 intake for member right now (it's lookin real sweet) and might fab up a metal (or plastic) coupling on the drivers side radiator support to elimintate the the hose feed thru. The passenger side is no problem.

J-fire, I wasnt trying to be sarcastic. Like I said, it might be a good idea. Being able to fit them to the opening is the benefit.

Brian is correct, they have to be able to slide forward enough to get them off the air boxes. Solid tubes will be hard for that reason.

yep, you're right, this will be a bit of a task. i'll keep ya posted if i can figure out something. brian, do you think there's room for a 'more-efficient' y-pipe the way you were explaining.....? it's not a bad idea! has anyone else tried that?

anyone try and rig the stock splitter with a code3 intake to the 55 boxes? or somehow add mini circular filters onto the 55 splitter to replicate the noise?

After seeing 240’s and BLKFIN’s intake, it got me thinking about the 90 degree coupling that pass’s through the radiator support. We need couplings that pass through the supports with a 120 degree angle. This would place the inlet openings behind or just too the right/left of the grill, more in line with air flow. The current location of inlet tubes is obstructed slightly by the bumper pillar and grille flaps.

I removed only the end grille flaps near the inlets (top/bottom) and now I’m looking for a way to extend the tubes….. Good stuff guys!

what i have been told, is the reason the NW intake makes the supercharger louder, is the aluminum tubing resonates the sound. i would think using aluminum tubes on the SL55 would do the same, but perhaps the airboxes catch a lot of the resonance anyway.... i KNOW there is a more efficient solution to the SL55 intake.(not that it isn't pretty sweet already!)

Has anyone tried using the E55 Air box? I believe they are interchangeable.

bump, anyone know if the SL55 intake does provide gains through out the RPM band on a stock SLK32?
