I had the computer hooked up the other night and was seeing 97-105 on WOT bursts, but it was 40 degrees. I will see if I can get do some screen shots up to show you. I am running my own two stage heat exchanger setup with, two 400cfm fans, Cm30 and a 1 gallon resivour. I need to put some ice in there and see what the temps drop too as well. It will be interesting to see what the temps are when I get my Code3 midsized pulley, since this combo should be comparable to the 181.

Where I’m seeing 160-170 in 70 degree weather with no isolated system, even with one I don’t think I’m going to see 105-113 under WOT. Just last night, it was 58 degrees and under WOT I hit 145 degrees.
I agree that all the cooling mods you can do - are a must if you race or drive aggressively. Or else clamp the IAT sensor to the ECU with a resistor to prevent timing from being pulled out from under you.

I see the highest IAT's after I shut the engine down and fresh air is no longer circulating thru the intake system and around the HE. - I would think that 1/4 mile racing would be the worst because it's all boost - back in line and shut it down. ICE on the SC (and Y-pipe) is a great trick for cooling the intake system down - a must if your wait time between runs is short.

I found that having the IC pump wired to run when the key is "on" allows the coolant (when split from the engine) to flow and dissipate the trapped heat.

I can't tell you what type of IAT's the 185mm produces from ambient OAT to WOT during a 1/4 mile run - but I will be able to tell you how much heat it produces during a 1 mile WOT run. Hopefully I can data log 15 one-mile runs.

Why wouldn't a 100 octane setting be usable for the street?

I was thinking of having mine bumped up from the tune I have now (even though sometime I fill with 91 octane and sometimes 100)

I thought the knock sensors would just adjust (pull) the timing as required?

"The grill is no lie, it does give an advantage. I'm sworn to it and have seen as much as a tenth decrease in times. Now that's with a NW intake, I doubt you will see the same with the SL intake. It may be worth a try though."

You know that all this talk has convinced me to look for the biggest highest flowing filter that will fit the Needswings intake. If its just for track days, who cares what it looks like? Or if it fits behind the grill. You should see the filter on my 300C. Its a monster. 4" unfortunately or I would use it. Has anyone tried this?

I have the AEM drylow and it barley fits behind the grill. I don't think you could fit much bigger in there.

Oh its easy. Turn the tube to face up or outwards. Just a thought. I know when testing on LX's, the bigger the filter the more power. Size being limited by space. But if you remove the grill on the Crossfire, which I plan on doing, why not have a huge mother to put on only for the track? Who cares what it looks like if it works? Maybe I'll be the guinea pig. Where's Waldo?

My problem is the availability of 100 octane. I would have to fill up leaving the track and make sure I have enough to get back. Or keep a 5 gallon jug of 100 at the house like I do now. All my data for bracket racing is with a 1/4 tank of gas. So I usually get there empty and run a gallon at at time and add a few gallons to get home and park the car.

Now fast forward to this week. It has rained here quite a bit and my race last week was canceled. So I wasn't able to get gas. I had to take the car out to a few appts and didn't want to take the truck. I hate parking that anywhere I can't see it. I had to get at least half a tank, so I added 5 gallons of 91 octane. The highest octane choice we have around here. I was a little worried, but the car ran great. I put the stocks back on and went for a nice little cruise. No knocking and plenty of power. So now I'm thinking of keeping it and just mixing up 100 with 91 and see how it does. My good DA weather is gone for the season, so no records getting broken now.

This is the new larger filter from NW. Every little bit counts.

Congrats! These are some very good results. I have also a complete new IC-System in the works with new IC,HE and some other things. I am curious what this will do with my 185mm Pulley-Ratio...

I figured it might be similar to the few memebers who decided to run 87 octane regular fuel. The Crossfire still runs fine but will lack in performance without premium fuel.

If it doesn't cause a big problem, I would be willing to bump-up to a 100 octane tune and just live with 91 octane it when I can't get to one of the 100 octane pumps in my local.

My first video, thanks for recording and posting it ! That was my 12.204 @ 113.09 pass, BLKFIN caught me sleeping at the light and subsequently cross the finishline first. One more race BLKFIN, winner takes all ! LOL

Edit: I'm cutting those flaps off the grill TONIGHT! LOL

You can always add a can of Octane Boost or keep one in the car, this way you can actually use that pathetic cup holder

Alright Texas guys…..this weekend should be something great!!! High of 54 and a low of 28, this is actually cooler than the day in November that we ran so good. I would guess that we may see some below sea level DA’s and I bet we wont see that again until next November!

Who is in for Texas Motorplex on Saturday?

SRT6-Steve?
SRT6GangMemeber?
SowardCustoms?
240M3SRT?
