The advertised vin 1C3AN79NX5X036259. I asked the dealer if this was a certified Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 Coupe. Be interesting what the dealer says and if he knows. DUH?

As a matter of little interest there was a series of these cars available in Germany at least, in August 2004 called the 'Black Line'. Black coupes and roadsters, no SRT's, they look like base models.
I have a brochure titled;
DAS SONDERMODELL
CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE
BLACK LINE
TECHNISCHE DATEN
AUSSTATTUNGEN
UND PREISE
Gultig AB 08/2004

It's obviously not an SRT, but rather a base coupe with SRT engine, speedo, and some phoney decals......It does however have an SRT VIN...........This is a VIN switch car.

You guys certainly know more about the history of this car than I, but I can't see why someone would go to all the trouble of switching the front bumper, rear spoiler, seats, brakes, radio, fog lights, and not take the engine. That would be the first thing I'd do. Of course, this car may have been parted, and re-parted more than once. Wouldn't it be great if a couple of our members in the area showed up with an interest in buying it?

The guy, in his mind, was creating a "sleeper". What he did was ruin a nice car, that he never intended to pay for...but, of course, made some good money parting it out...It would be a nice car....I would give 3K for, I need to make them an offer...poor car needs to rescued....lol

I can't belive this is back again, 4 owners so far... I imagine a couple of those owners "believed the hype" and then decided to try to resell it as soon as they figured it out.

As far as the un-SRT part; there is at least one other member on this forum that wants/or did swap back to N/A parts to give the sleeper effect. To each thier own, but it really detracts from the value in a resale.

I see it has a Benz engine cover... is that what makes it a "Black Max"? lol

What would be interesting is if someone has a spare autocheck, to run a report on. I bet it has been sold at auction at least a dozen times over the last 2 years. Every time it shows up, it is at a different dealer lot. Dealers hold it long enough to realize that there is no such thing as a Black Max edition and then take it back to the auction. This car has to of set a record for the most times a car has been through the auction circuit.

I would say with almost certainty, this car will still be making its rounds through the auction circuit 2 years from now, and every couple months, it will resurface in this forum. The damn thing just will not go away.

If it was a reasonable price and I had some spare pennies I would buy it and bring it to every crossfire event I go to. Just so everyone can say they have been in the presence one of the rarest crossfires out there!

You can read the Autocheck report on eBay. It's free for this car.

Thanks.... I missed that. Well, I was being a bit conservative with my guess of a dozen times. LOL

There have been times when we have not heard of the Black Max for a while that I begin to wonder when it will surface again. This forum never lets us down.

It's back! And the asking price of almost $22k is ridiculous.

About time for our "twin turbo" sound machine to come around again isn't it?

A customer on the lot told me we're now in possession of the infamous "Black Max" ... true? 2005 Chrysler Crossfire - Used Coupe Cedar Rapids IA | 5 Seasons Motorsports Inc.

If so, how do we sell this thing??? What's the best way to get out of it?

You'd most likely need to reinstall all the SRT parts that were removed.

- wheels
- front and rear bumpers
- rear spoiler
- seats

BlackMax

Normal SRT6
