Black Max Edition? HUH?
LOL. I hope you guys don't think I came here trying to find a buyer, 100% just soliciting information and confirming what I was told. We asked around to a few people locally after we started getting questions on it and nobody really knew what was up with this thing. Answer received: stripped down supercharged death machine.
If you want to sell this car to someone who knows the history and is willing to assume the liability. Tell your boss to post it on here for what he paid for it at auction, show the receipt to remove questioning. He's had fun with it for some amount of time, no loss in sell it for cost. You will likely find someone who is willing to turn it into an untitled autocross/drag or track car if the price was right. Too far for me or I may do it my self.

Doc is correct about the spoiler---Audi had to recall and put spoilers on the TTs when they first came out years ago. Of course, the spoilers Audi installed were fixed but they were needed because of the same problems at higher speeds; that rounded back end just does not make any down force.
Now that you know about the spoiler and should you sell it to an individual and they crash---WOW, a first year lawyer could win that one.
That spoiler is just as important as brakes or good tires at speed. You do not need this possible headache---not worth it---fix it or dump it at auction.

Found this post (09-05-2008) of things that were done to the car by "Mutt" the owner here when he still had it
Not mention of the repo or the dismantling of the car posted here to my knowledge.
His final post on this forum was on 10-31-2008
He sure had a lot invested in this car at one time though.......

And what is with those decals? I saw that in the link from 5-15-2013. Did they just custom make them to pass it off as this magical non-existent edition?
And to the guys who want me to be real and tell you we got it from auction and tell you exactly what we paid: it didn't come from auction. My boss set ACV at $9000 on the trade-in from his friend. I don't control that, and I'm LITERALLY not trying to sell it here. We're a three man dealership, I'm title work, internet, and general information finder...not a salesman.
You can understand how this whole situation is just flat out interesting to me with the car in question sitting on the lot, right?
This mystery was actually considerably easy than the other one I'm trying to solve, also on our lot. 2006 Cadillac XLR-V with a Lemon Law Buyback title, called GM, actually traced it back to the dealership that originally sold it and the only other one it was serviced at before being declared a lemon, they have zero record of any of it on any end. You think selling the Black Max will be hard? Imagine this thing with a lemon title and ZERO knowledge why. http://www.5seasonsinc.com/detail.as...PrefID=0&.aspx

But it is a sweet looking ride !!!
MY 1992 Camaro Z-28 limited addition just about went back as a lemon. It would just shut down...dead. Had it towed 3 different times and GM gave up. I wasn't successful getting them to buy it back, so it set in the garage after each warranty repair for 3 yrs on and off. I sold it to a collector w/ 5k miles after owning it for 6 yrs. Just before the buyer was flying out, I had discussed getting the exhaust repaired. I had a dual exhaust part # for what are State Police cars were running. A true dual exhaust. When we started to replace the exhaust we found the catalytic convertors were so bad, they were all but clogged. GM replaced them under warranty and the car never showed signs of dying again. They were the problem all along. Just about didn't sell the car after that. The Texan that bought the car was amused as I put a 1000 miles on the car in a week before he flew out. So, you would think GM would have discovered the problem, but no codes were ever thrown and the car was all new. GM replaced everything electronic on that motor 3 times...lol. So, you never know. I had at least 3 different very good mechanics looks at the car as well. We just didn't think about a new exhaust being bad.
If it hadn't been for it setting in the garage and not being driven rusting up the exhaust, we might not have discovered it then...

Personally I think this whole "Black Max Edition" is much ado about nothing.
Dealers have been guilty of "Dresing" up slow moving inventory for years just to get somebody interested enough to buy it and get it off their lot.
Yes, putting a decal on the car and telling a potential customer it was a "Special Edition" from the factory is
deceitful, and probably illegal (or should be) in most states. But by the looks of the car that's For Sale now, that's not the case. The car is not being misrepresentated.
As for the car being a Death trap, yes it needs a functioning spoiler. Daimler/Chrysler felt the NA spoiler was good for 150 mph, and a stock SRT only goes a few miles an hour faster (thanks to programed limits). So that critical area needs to be addressed.
From what I've read, the only things it would take to bring this car back to legitimate SRT Status would be:
Wheels
Rear spoiler
Emblems
Front Bumper cover/with fog lights
Seats
Radio
Brakes
Minor paint work
Deligent Salvage Yard web site surfing should locate all the neccessary hardware needed to put this car back to its original Factory condition.
It's not a salvage vehicle, a theft recovery, or flood car. I didn't notice any record of body repair either. It comes with a good title and is probably one of the most highly documented Crossfires available.
To be honest, if I were in the market for an SRT6 or an automatic Crossfire in that color, I'd probably make them an offer.

Here's an Autocheck on the Black Max from October, just for fun. Looks like he didn't have it as long as I thought he did, just since September...
Exactly what I saw. SOOOOOOOO, we're at engine, tranny, and chassis price. Is it worth $7k?
Not even in Canadian dollars
Well, you have really dedicated and real live Crossfire fanatics answering your questions. I have to agree with what all have stated so far. Bottom line, since you are a car dealer, is you are just asking for trouble selling this car. My dealer buddies would send this car packing out of state. Even if someone wanted to do as suggested and go try to restore to an original SRT which wouldn't be easy or cheap, you still have a wrecked used car. You have $3k on your hands like it or not. Yes someone not as educated as us might drop $7K on it, and then comes the liability if something happens, or they find out the truth. Then your dealerships rep is on the line. I'd pass my friend.
I say $3k because that is what salvaged cars have went for on here. Most are turned into track cars. No more street. Good luck, bud. We are here to help.

Should be easy enough to lower the price and full disclosure, "AS IS" sale and everyone goes home happy? Would be useful for building up a dedicated drag car!
The real problem here is just book value, the knowledge is out there about it being stripped, and the fact it has had body work. We all know we have seen nice SRT's go for 10-12K, which I don't like, but we all have witnessed here. Now, strip that same car, add damage...and it is what it is. The car looks good, and I think it would bring the $7k....but, If I were the buyer and found out about all this later, I wouldn't like it. So, yes, disclose to the buyer all this up front, and sign off on the spoiler liability, and take $7k and run. I wouldn't do it, but someone else might....
Bypass the liability waiver.. $300 bucks and now you have an SRT6 Black Max SE .. lol.

With the knowledge of previous frame damage I will reduce my offer to $2000. The engine is about all thats left of the car worth anything. The rest are just piddly pieces parts that are still obtainable with a little searching.
