Wedge, glad to see you on board. No more spinning the inside wheel for us. I'm looking forward to learning to drive faster with a LSD.

Once these are finished and get mailed out to us customers... who is going to be the first one to really test it out? Who will be to first one to risk blowing the rear end parts just to see what this thing stand up to? I know the southern states will have an earlier oppertunity due to winter weather but I know there are some anxious members waiting...

I'm not anxious or anything, I'm an extemely patient fella. It's just that the link was getting close to the bottom of the page and I didn't wanna have to go searching all over to find it.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it

Well, I'm officially reporting from Germany today... The SLK is enroute on a ship somewhere. Hopefully I'll find a place here to do the install when it's finally available... Seems like forever since we started this venture!
I just pinged on Devin on Friday. He said the Autotech crew is in the UK until this Thursday and he would get an update when they return... Seems like this has been "in the works" forever...
Well, I just gotta figure that they are working on producing these units
as they took our deposits and the word was that no money would change
hands unless there was going to be a production run. So, though I'd like
to have had the new differential last week, I'm just considering this an
exercise in patience.
But I, like you, am getting a little antsy. I'm hoping to have this installed
before the next GTG at the Dragon. Speaking of which (install that is), I'm
not sure I'm up to the task of installing this unit myself after reading
through the procedure in the Service Manaul. So, I gave Jason a call at
BuckHead Imports to see what it would cost to have them do the install.
So, as Buckhead Imports now has a new performance shop, he transfered
me over there and I spoke with Tony (nice to have the guy who tuned
my car so close) and was quoted a price of $1200.00 for the install, if I
have them do all the work (i.e. drop of car and pick back up when the
diff is installed). Much cheaper if I were to pull the diff myself and bring
it in, but I'm not sure I want to do all the work necessary to pull the unit,
as that's most of the "hard" work. So, I'm saving my duckies.
Good luck to us all,
Coyote

cover the complete install? If that is the case, then it might be worth a
couple hundred for a trip up your way.

This is one reason I like having the SLKs stub axle setup... 6-bolts per axle, 3 flange bolts and 3 mount bolts (2 rear and 1 front)... and dropped!
I found a duplex with a small, but useable garage and move in Feb 1st. Today I'm goiing to look for a winter beater for a 2nd car... so then I'll just need to learn German so I can find an installer... lol
On a side note: I have yet to see a high-horsepower German car here. Maybe because it is winter, or the area that I'm in... more than likely because of the fuel cost, YIKES! But All the SLKs I have seen have been SLK200's which is the small 4-cyl version.
