Either I miscommunicated or a couple of you are misreading me... Lol
I am NOT trying to go with a diff gear ratio. Im sending them a new 3.07 gear set (stock ratio) to install.
As far as the Kleenman, Steve is correct. It is the same design as a Phantom Grip. On the plus side, I haven't heard of anyone breaking their gears/diff with one yet.

Kleenman is located in palm beach,, i went there, about 18 months ago they do not know how to change the rear ratio and make it work,, the copy of the Phantom Grip that they sell ( i was told by the owner of PG that kleenman borrowed their design and sell it for 1200+) you can get the pg, without the K on it for around 400. it will eat through the gear pins destroy your rear after about 50000 miles. the only lsd for our car is the wavetrac.
just lookin' out for you Alan, you are lookin' out for us....glad to hear...Jim, nice to know....how many miles does Woody have left
this was a front wheel drive pt turbo with about 41000 miles on it,
The PG that was installed in mine was the recommended PG904Gold with red springs. Like I said it was recommended by the phantom grip company and it cause my diff pin to split into 3 pieces c84f555e.jpg

I got a very good laugh today.... I stopped by Portland Speed Industries which is a nice shop just a couple of miles from the house....I used them for running my last dyno...
I asked them if they could do the Wavetrak install for me... Yes sir, we can.
What is a guestimate on cost?... Lets see, 8-10 hours labor at $105/hr. Dont know if the diff will have to be taken out...
Yes it will..... okay, it will probably be around $1600 - $1800 total.
Thanks, I'll let you know.
This IS a nice shop and they do lots of custom work and tuning. Mostly Supra's, Vette's, Mustangs, Vipers, Nissan, ect. No MB.
Oh. And he then says to let him know how the Wavetrak works out. He just heard about them for the first time 6 months ago but dosent know anyone that has one.
I am going to talk to my transmission guy next.

Wow, that's just crazy Mike! $1800 to install a diff!!?! I think you can ship it to Doc (the whole car) and have him install it and ship it back for that much.
OK, maybe shipping the whole car would cost a little more... but usually it's only about $600 each way...

Sorry to see that. What does Phantom Grip say about why this happened?

the answer is what not to put into the diff. In the instructions will be the oil list of oils that can be used, ,,one that is recommended by wavetrac,, is Motul,, guess who carries Motul,,= NEEDSWINGS,, in fact (Needswings) carries all the oils that wavetrac recommends ,,
one thing i was told today is not to put a petroleum base oil in your diff.
if you send your diff. to wavetrac, and want them to install the wavetrac into your diff, here is what they will do,, replace the seals (not the bearings) ((Mercedes bearings are one of the best and most do not need replacing))((( the cost of just the bearing for our diff. is around $400.00))
My personal opinion is that you,All of you, that ordered the wavetrac,,send it to Devin at Wavetrac for them to install the unit into you diff, two reasons for this they know our diff and will have done a few before yours gets there. read Mike R,, "i got a good laugh today" it is on this page three post above, if the good old boys down at the gas station does your diff . and it failed for any reason, are you covered,, wavetrac knows we are useing this diff(wavetrac) for racing, they made it for that ,but if your ring and pinion are not set up correctly,, you will say &^&*^%^&^%&^&^%^&^ ,, so be safe in the beginning and injoy you new found rear(diff.). jim

mine will be sent to devin. no sense messing it up after this long of a wait!
That is propably what I will do. Once Devin has them done and ready to ship I will just have him hold mine until he gets my diff to install it in. That will minimize the down time.....
I will let my back yard mechanic do mine...I have two to do, not shipping two to the gold coast. Their knowledge is available to us, we will get it right. Besides, 30 yrs of building motors, transmission, and rear ends, is hardly shade tree...and he works on the big rig as well...good mechanics are hard to find today, and I have a handful of them right here in my back yard. All have drag raced, all are gear heads, not oil changers...you still have to get them out and shipped and you still have to put them back in. It in house for me...you guys do as you wish, for some they would be the best choice, just not for me...besides we are doing a few other things while we are under there...
don't forget if you have a mechanic or your self,,, Devin will be there to walk you or your mechanic through it , jim
