Ordered my gears yesterday... they will be at Autotech on Weds just waiting for the Wavetrac to put it togther.
Getting really excited to have a complete new diff w/ the LSD, should be bulletproof! Of course I'm heading off to Afghanistan now in July, so don't think I'll have it together before I leave...

DON"T LET YOUR DEFFERENTIAL BE THE FIRST ONE DONE BY YOUR MECHANIC
ok as i said in a post a few pages back, do your self a favor ,,SEND your diff to Devin and have him build it.,,
Here is what happened.
a Mercedes mechanic installed a wavetrac into a mercedes,, the owner got 10 miles away from the shop and the rear seized ,,the car was towed back to the shop (don't know if shop was dealer or not) then they call Devin for warranty work,,, LOL LOL LOL,,, this is why I recommend you send your diff. to Devin for the install into your carrier,, he said the install would include the seals ,(not the bearings) the bearings on most Mercedes are (99.9% good. install for $225.00,, u ship.

the answer is what not to put into the diff. In the instructions will be the oil list of oils that can be used, ,,one that is recommended by wavetrac,, is Motul,, guess who carries Motul,,= NEEDSWINGS,, in fact (Needswings) carries all the oils that wavetrac recommends ,,
one thing i was told today is not to put a petroleum base oil in your diff.
if you send your diff. to wavetrac, and want them to install the wavetrac into your diff, here is what they will do,, replace the seals (not the bearings) ((Mercedes bearings are one of the best and most do not need replacing))((( the cost of just the bearing for our diff. is around $400.00))
My personal opinion is that you,All of you, that ordered the wavetrac,,send it to Devin at Wavetrac for them to install the unit into you diff, two reasons for this they know our diff and will have done a few before yours gets there. read Mike R,, "i got a good laugh today" it is on this page three post above, if the good old boys down at the gas station does your diff . and it failed for any reason, are you covered,, wavetrac knows we are useing this diff(wavetrac) for racing, they made it for that ,but if your ring and pinion are not set up correctly,, you will say &^&*^%^&^%&^&^%^&^ ,, so be safe in the beginning and injoy you new found rear(diff.). jim

May 16th maybe sounds good! I am going to see someone I trust tomorrow to find out if they want to do the rear end... If not, I will be shipping the darn thing to Devin
Does anyone wanna see that shipping bill when I get it?
EDIT: Shipping UPS standard... just under $90 from my place
Shipping UPS ground... $54 from a 25 min drive over the border in Buffalo, NY
This is starting to look like I am going to ship it for that cost and knowing if anyhting happens it will be covered

(it was the devil again!)

I changed "my" to "the" ...
don't remember the weight but no where near 100 lbs. I will see if i can find where my paper is when i weighted mine. also check fedex they are cheaper. jim
If I remember correctly it was around 40 lbs. I used a box that had about 4" room all around it, wrapped the diff in a plastic bag and used spray foam. Yes, I believe in packing overkill when shipping... lol

I fixed the shipping to Unitrax problem.... I found a diff for $375 in Sun Valley from a SRT that had an interior fire with only 11000 miles on it. So I bought it and they were going to drive it over to Unitrax today.
I talked to Devin first and he will hold it until the install.... which sounds like it could be pretty soon based on what he told me today.
So I will have a stock SRT differential for sale in the next month or so. I will probably pop the cover and examine it as much as I can (pics too) to make sure it is sound. Not going to dis-assemble it though.

this will be the first "wavetrac" done by my mechanic. I will let you all know how that turns out.....I think the boys out there can handle a phone call if we have any questions...but I can't have two cars down, while we are waiting on shipping...can't do that to a friend who is loaning me his shop....if it were mine, that might work...we will get it right with their help....then we will be the experts...lol...after all, that was the first thing I asked before ordering...not everyone has a shop to tear things down, and take up that space while waiting...my mechanic has done semi tractor diffs, 10 bolt chevys, 12 bolt chevys, 9 bolt fords, and some dana's...so, I am comfortable with this install, but if you aren't then, take jim's advise...
