alan remember you having to drill a hole in the tire well to get the mount bolt out? the 03 stole your idea!! already has a hole

Does yours have 2 holes in the trunk? Mine had the one. While I could get at the 2nd bolt from underneath, I couldn't get the impact gun on it... hence drilling the 2nd hole.

it doesnt look anything like my 02 did alan. push in axles all 1 piece. the trunk only has the 1 hole. i used a 1/2" breaker bar and was able to get the other bolt loose. biggest issue for me was getting the axles out especially on the drivers side without tearing up the seal lips.
Guys, I need to make a correction on the Royal Purple gear oil... 'Max Gear' 75-140w
I just read the bottle again and it specifically states that it has 'friction modifiers'....
DO NOT USE THIS OIL for your Wavetrac LSD...
I will be going out tomorrow to get new oil....

Mike, I actually talked with Devin about this and he said that while they recommend using Motul, Royal Purple wouldn't be an issue. He just doesn't want people running Lucas oils or the other sub-tier gear oils in there. I'd double check with him so this doesn't become a game of telephone but that is what he told me and I've used RP in everything that comes through my doors without incident.

Rudy,
I will double check with him in the morning. He did tell me that RP was okay... but NO friction modifiers... and the 'Max Gear' 75-140w says it has friction modifiers.

I talked to Devin this morning about the Royal Purple 'Max Gear' 75w140....
he was not comfortable with the shock absorbing friction modifiers either.... so I will not use it until Autotech finishes their testing of Royal Purple and which one they approve.
I picked up Mobil1 75w140 today.... I can always change to Motul or other later if I feel the need....

i packaged my diff complete with gears and seals and shipped fed ex today. 61 lbs from tn to cali in 4 days. 79$ with 3000$ insured. this will guve folks an idea what the cost is to ship to devin
that isn't bad at all....if we run into trouble for some reason, that will be an option...of course the wavetrac will add to the cost...I talked to him today, and they are available 8-5 M-F for questions and help if we need it....so it should go fine...
Thanks for posting the shipping costs. I was wondering how much it was gonna be.
By any chance did you snap a pic of how you packed it? I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around a good way to package something that heavy.
I'm thinking packing peanuts won't cut it.

Here is how mine was packed coming from Unitrax... it came via FedEx and was in perfect condition to the box and contents.....

The main thing is to pack it tight so it dosent move and get loose. That is when things get damaged.

This is what was in the box....
it will be on the Aero by the end of today....

The old carrier was in a smaller box inside....this carrier only has 11k miles on it....

32krazy! or Buggin, since you have been in contact with Wavetrac the most maybe you can answer my question. Now that they have done the R&D for the SRT/SLK, will anyone be able to order one from them at a later point, even if it is a little bit more expensive than the group buy price?
