A few years ago this was a problem which led to cut belts. Tighed1 started the thread as his belt was ruined.
The solution to the problem is shown in this drawing.
The LET water pump pulleys shattered due to the walls and radii being to small. Look for cracks in the wall that has the bolts in it.
I trust you machined off the correct amount from the correct face.

Ha! Funny nobody brought that up!
Yes, I took about 3mm off the crankshaft mating surface of the hub, I'm confident the pulley is aligned.

Forgot to add Thank you.

I forgot to add that the LET pulleys were made from aluminum and that was a poor feature. Aluminum work hardens and if too thin will break.

Here is a pic of the LET Mod1 WP pulley... Note the thin sidewalls and the sharp angle on the inside bottom. The thickness of the metal on this one is .067"... The Mod2 pulley is thicker and has a good size radius on the inside....

Thank you sir.
I should have my intake, pulley + PSK, bumper re-installed by Saturday. Then schedule my Eurocharged remote tune.

question. if the t/b opening is 3" what is the benefit of a 3.5" tubing to the t/b? you wont flow any more air than opening can handle correct? with a 3" opening in the rad support and a 3" opening in the t/b aren't you just pinching everything down?

I cut the hell out of the rad. support. The pics are up there^^^^. So I have 3.5" no restriction, it reduces at the TB 90.

see post #62.

You may want to buy some heat reflecting material to wrap the intake tube. I did, and it works. It'll heat soak parked but once you get moving you'll see some benefit. It really doesn't cost much. If I find a picture I'll edit this and post it.

ok 3.5 to the t/b but necked down. im still not seeing how this improves flow over a full 3" system. in theory you could do the same and have a 5" system but the flow still wont be any more then the smallest opening correct?

I see what your saying, but 5 feet of 3.5" tube is going have less restriction then 3".

I think it's going to rock.

I saw that velcro wrap in your pics Les. Great idea for summer temps.

I can't believe this still gets argued about. The NW's DCAI is like 6" of air flow and necked down at the TB, but the dyno tests have proven the gains. Many of us have run both and know the difference. Most notably low end gains, both torque and H.P. I commend Tuna for his awesome build and with all his mods and attention to detail, it will be both a cool and formidable contender for certain.

Although the Mk 2 is heavier I would expect it to fail after a longer period of time than the first.
Aliuminum work hardens and then fractures. That's why airplanes fail at the worst possible time. Stronger parts are made from formed not machined material and steel is the stronger of the two.
I may be in error but I believe these pulleys are machined aluminum not formed steel like the OEM parts. Machining is cheaper than forming for small quantity runs.

Agreed, but I'm stuck with it since the stock pulley is too big for it now.

Finally got the bumper on and drove it to work this morning. It feels very powerful but I'm letting the ECU settle and getting a tune next week. When I got to work there was a burning rubber smell, could be the belt, or could be the TIRES! I'll look at lunch.
