driving SRT without the wing
Ohhhh, now I get it. Is this true Fubu?
.
wait so you have to have the srt rear spoiler to keep traction in the rear ???? the limited version has the automatic wing and i went up to 145 mph on i 10 going to san anonio from houston tx ...... i have recently upgraded due to hp reasons to a srt 6 and was wanting to take off the rear spoiler and go back to the automatic spoiler will i have traction problems if i do this....?????

and further up the thread here...
Sorry fubu, but 160+ without a wing? I am not under any circumstance calling you a liar, but I find this awfully hard to believe as the lead engineer explained to us that at 120+ the rear end experiences significant lift with no wing....

heres my question any one ever thought about using the n/a motorized wing.... as a an air brake?!this would be the coolest thing on the planet , not easy but soo cool , should i star a thread on this? or can i just get your thoughts? i did search, found nothing
Curious what good that would do, but it sure would look funky lol.
Silly discussion, ask any car enthusiast (not an xfire owner) which look they prefer and it's going to be 100% SRT wheels, spoiler, bumper, seats. I got numerous comments on my car in person saying that the rear of the car looks much sharper thanks to the wing, plus it is functional at high speeds where as NA tiny wing not so much.
Any people here who also hate there SRT look, i'm able to trade your SRT rims for my NA rims

credibility is questionablelIts not who has the bigger wing but how it is used
Both has their faults, srt wings crack, limited may get a faulty motor...
All depends if you like a smooth rear end or one you can have dinner on
SRT6/special edition base rims are liked on this forum and are overly praised.
Not stirring the pot but we all know its true

I've talked to many (non-Crossfire) enthusiast over the 8 years of ownership and I've heard many comments about both the SRT's "Ironingboard" vs the NA's "Skateboard" and it seems to be about 50/50.
It's purely a matter of taste.
When I bought my car new, I had every intention of installing the SRT spoiler on my car as soon as possible. Then in less than a few weeks, the novelty of the spoiler's automatic raising and lowering won me over.
But then after driving the car for a few months, I noticed everytime I would come down an on ramp and accelerate to blend in with traffic, the wing would go up, and 50% of the time some "Ricer" would instantly appear out of nowhere and want to race. I mean it was like waving a red cape in front of a bull.lol
That's when I decided I liked the way the car looked with the spoiler down, (as Andrew pointed out) so I installed a kill switch so I could put it up when ever I felt it was needed.
Travelling out West to Denver last year there were several opportunities to see how well the car handled at speeds approaching the century mark and I never felt my car wandering or unstable. But since I was the only one of 5 Crossfires going down the road in formation with my spoiler down, I figured what the heck, and raised the "white flag" (so to speak) and surrendered. And wouldn't you know it. James's Wife "Tammi" snapped the only photo of my car with spoiler up. (Darn Paparazzi).
As for the comment about the spoiler on the NA's functionality, it's as functional as it needs to be to safely cruise at a 150 mph on the autobahn. If it wasn't, Daimler/Chrysler wouldn't have taken a chance on releasing it to the general public. That being said, some may say the SRT's "Ironingboard" is overkill.
Lol at the tiny wing, obviously the fixed wing creates more downforce. Regarding the rest, everything is an upgrade from the NA, it's like saying SLK320 looks better than SLK32. I might seem biased now but I never cared for the way Crossfires look - majority of car enthusiasts think any trim is fugly by the way. The first Crossfire that caught my attention was a black SRT that was slammed, debadged with spacers on stock wheels - that combo just looks really clean.
All this amounts to useless conjecture (op post aside). Unless someone has downforce ratings (df vs CoD would be even more enlightening) this all just blowing in the wind.

I used to think the SRT ironing board was ugly, compared to the N/A's little flapper. But now, I'd really like to have an SRT in the garage next to the N/A, cause I like the look of both!
It would appear to me that the N/A's flap is big enough to keep the car safe at 153Mph and that the SRT's wing is (maybe) overkill at 153mph. But I'm not sure the N/A wing would be super-safe-enough for selling the car to the public when the car can do 180Mph. It may be overkill even at 180, but again, I'm unsure the N/A's wing is effective enough at 180.
In any event, no matter: N/A or SRT; Roadster or Coupe; Red-Black-Graphite-White-AeroBlue-SSB-Yellow-Oyster .... there are no unattractive XFs.
So you are calling me a liar. There were many who attended the meeting with the design engineers while at Woodward Dream Cruise. He didn't have the numbers but stated downforce numbers were all but identical. I like the n/a roadster w/the skater board as well. But I wouldn't have bought a xf had I not learned of the SRT6. Just me. You will never sell me on their stick or other motor. Just no interest. Until my latest mods I was about to go back to bow ties. Love the performance of the modded srt6 motor. I would love to have the time for a v-8 conversion before I die but I think the coupe I have will be my final build w/ the ironing board. Eat your dinner on it if you think you can. It's a drying rack for shammys.
