No more street racing for me.
Could have been worse I guess. Try getting a work permit.

Considering my wife has ms and is disabled which I told the judge and my record only has 4 or 5 moving violation in26 years of driving and no criminal history at all, I thought the judge was a little tough. Could have been worse the excessive speed could have gotten me 30 days in jail. I will try to vote him out next election

I think you got off lightly compared to the penalties for that offense here in Ontario. Note these are based on 50 kph (30mph) over, not 50mph over.
Let's face it you earned the punishment, man up and take the lumps.
"If you are charged for speeding at 50 km/h over the speed limit, police will suspend your licence and impound your vehicle at the roadside.
Penalties for street racing, stunt driving and driving 50 km/h or over the speed limit
Pre-conviction – Immediate 7-day licence suspension and 7-day vehicle impoundment
Upon conviction - $2,000 to $10,000 fine, 6 demerit points, up to 6 months jail, up to 2 years licence suspension for a first conviction
Second offence – Driver licence suspension up to 10 years within 10 years of first conviction
The following demerit point pen alties are assigned to a driver convicted of a speed-related offence. Remember, if you collect enough demerit points, you can lose your driver's licence.
3 points for exceeding the speed limit by 16 to 29 km/h
4 points for exceeding the speed limit by 30 to 49 km/h
6 points for exceeding the speed limit by 50 km/h or more"

My only question, did you have a lawyer?

What are those, socialist laws? It sure doesn't show with the truckers from Canada. Some of the worse drivers on the road. Most aren't even Canadian, but have a Canadian drivers license. Strict on one end, not on the commercial end...go figure...
I expected a HUGE ($900 to $2000) fine - this seems backwards.
Threads and stories like this make me think $450 or so to go to a road course for a day isn't so bad.

Couldnt agree more. Sure street racing is illegal and usually unsafe, and breaking the 'law' should involve some form of punishment, but to do this to these peoples cars is complete and utter crap! If I had been on the recieving end if that punishment you can believe that some retaliation would be warranted, and dealt to the local officials that okayed the acts. Fine me, suspend my license or put me in jail for a short period of time, all perfectly legitimate punishments to fit the so called 'crime'. Destroy my hard work to set an 'example'? Line crossed…
How about the guy here who was selling his Crossfire to help pay for his relatives health care. The land of the free is not quite all it's cracked up to be if you ask me.
