Default Jack Pad Replacement

Recently ran over a bump that riped off my Front Drivers Side Jack Lift Point Pad, I was pretty worried, I think I also messed up my alignment!

I just sent in a request to my dealer for the replacement pad - anybody have other recommendations as to where I can find one for a moderate price? I am seeing them int he $50 range...

Anybody know of a replacement for a more reasonable cost?

Looks like I am just going to buy the stock Mercedes Part for the SLK and do a little bit of trimming to get this to fit. Beats spending 3x more for minimal differences.

GOt the jack pad today, it was the $15 Mercedes jack pad part number 2039970186, infact here is the direct eBay link I bought it off of: Genuine Mercedes Benz Jack lift Pad rubber SLK280 SLK350 C230 C350 #2039970186 | eBay

While it was not an EXACT match, one can trim it to fit well, but for me, I just put it on the car without trimming and it pretty much went in and did the job. Totally worth saving that extra $50 for something with just a few corner differences.

So yes, it does work and function well, but it is also slightly different. Totally worth it.

Many thanks, that's good to know. I think I'll pick up a spare set!

.
Just a question, you say that it can be trimmed to fit well, but it fits. How can that be true? If it needs to be trimmed it means will not fit.
If it fits how can you trim it to make it fit?

He says corner differences, does it not quite fit n the corners? If so the weight of the car may damage the rocker panel when the car is lifted using the pad.The pad directs the body weight onto the frame and not the rocker panel which is just sandwiched between. If it does not sit against the flat area of the rocker panel then damage will be done. A cracked rocker panel will cost more than the savings on the pad if it does not fit correctly.

Inquiring minds want to know.

There is a method behind my questions at times, I try not to indicate the exact point of interest, so that I do not put words into someones mouth.

Nothing is gained by letting on where the problem I see may lie, if you see my point.
