if you look at the engines today, Ford, Chevy, etc...they all have the nice polished pulley set ups... Jegs, Summit, come to mind displaying their engine setups... muscle to me is above 500 hp... not the muscle of old...lol...

Well, I'm relieved to find out that (by your definition : ) at least my SL55 is a muscle car (with a 40 HP margin woo hoo : ) come to think of it .... it sounds like a muscle car too .... you may be on to something Doc.

I immediately thought of you and your SL when he said that so I figured I'd give you an opening... Glad you took it!

 

As my mustang and camaro youngsters have discovered around here. You can have all that HP but you still have to put it to the ground. Racing is racing. My under rated 370 does just fine. But it's no muscle car. And those who have beat it done so with a car or truck that cost a whole lot more than mine. And whole lot more displacement. But I do miss that sound of a big old v-8.

Chris, I got my alt. pulley today; thankyou. It was indeed a pleasure doing buss. with ya. I stared at the pulley so long that the hypnotic spiral that's machined on the back wall put me in a daze, lol. It's a beautiful, top notch piece.

 

Chris, thanks for the install today man. You went above and beyond. Best $20 I spent lol. The kit is top notch and your knowledge for this stuff is amazing. I mean, you have a huge whiteboard in your garage with forumla's and stuff on it with a lift I would say you're legit! lol

If your thinking about getting this kit do so. The looks are def nice, but the performance is even better.

a note on install,
I have had repeated success at this holding the alternator shaft with a T50 (torx) bit and then using a 15/16" 6-point socket (welded to a junk wrench) to back the nut off .... UNTIL today ... when I snapped off the T50 (as the torque wrench it was held with passed 120 lb-ft) ... so I had to resort to the impact gun. No penalty for using the gun, it just requires that you unplug the fan connector, remove 2 shroud clips and ease out the fan shroud so you can get the gun in there. As an added precaution, I like to slip a piece of sheet metal (8" square or more will do fine) against the radiator so you don't bonk any fins over with the impact gun.

If I'm following the pics in this thread correctly, I need to move this pulley, that is on the alternator mount bolt, up to the blank hole in the water pump. Does that sound/look correct? This is a 75mm C3 replacement pulley, if I remember correctly.

Also one note: if you have the $50 replacement tensioner:

You may need one extra washer behind the new idler, otherwise it idler will rub. No big deal, just figured I'd mention it.

 

yes you are correct it is that hole shown with the arrow.

I was not aware of the other tensioner if you tell me the washer I will supply it with all future tensioner pulleys

3rd day with 3 of your pulleys installed and haven't noticed any slipping or any issues. The slipping that I was noticing was only on instant let off of a WOT and it is gone. Not sure if it is more altenator pulley surface area or more belt wrap due to the smaller idler above the altenator. This is with Rudy's 62mm EC pulley and stock belt with stock plastic idler moved to above altenator position.

I want to clarify that the 62mm Karmen pulley I'm selling doesn't have anything to do with EC.
