Annoyed by local MB shops
Called 2 highly reputable local MB / German Car shops about service but both have decided to pass. Despite my overview of the SRT6 to the service advisor they won't be able to help me because they do not work on American cars. No problem have a great weekend. So annoying because one of the places is walking distance and has really good reviews especially with MB cars.
All I want is a proper transmission service since the car is shifting like crap in the morning until things have had a chance to warm up. Obviously the fluid is probably low again. I did have the stealership replace the trans connector and add fluid but that was 35,000 miles ago.
Also the check engine light came on last night after dinner with the wife and the car would not start right away. It starts up right away now but the light is solid on.
Anyone know of any good shops here in SoCal?

Went down this road several years ago. They just do not care. Went to several before I gave up the cause. I found an independant MB/BMW shop in my town that loves to work on the crossfire. First time I had it in there it stopped work for about 20 minutes with all the mechanics looking at the AMG engine. Try to find an independant MB shop. The owner will probably have gone through MB training and schools.
Sorry, I thought you meant you had trouble getting indy MB shops to take a look at it. Forget the MB dealers, they are a lost cause.
I found mine through the local MB club. Look for a shop that is a sponsor of the local club or is recommended by the club.

Good luck

I had to convert my Chevy mechanic. He loves working on the cars. Really isn't a lot of difference until you get into the eletronics. Then, it is a call to Rudy for help. Usually with his advise we are able to work thru it. Once in awhile though, it is a trip up to Chicago to see the Rudy... which is fun in itself... You have to find a mechanic willing to learn.... or an old MB mechanic who has went independant...
I've seen signs that said, "No shirt, no shoes, no service". But to insinuate that the Crossfire is American as an excuse not to work on them is ludacris.
(and boarders on discrimination). If the Dealer has a used car lot, (where they sell their trade-ins) and you see ANY American cars on the lot, you can bet it was their service department that serviced the car before it wound up on their lot.
I can't even get my local Mercedes dealer to do an alignment.
It would seem to me that it should be painfully obvious to any Mercedes Dealer's Service Manager that they are chasing potential "future" Mercedes buyers away, everytime they turn their nose up at the opportunity to work on a Crossfire.
Since "most" Crossfire owners are deleriously satisified with their car's, where do we go when our cars do eventually wear out? Certainly not Chrysler.
It just makes sence to me the only alternative would be to replace it with ANOTHER Mercedes. But after years of being snubbed by every Mercedes dealer just because I drive an "American" car, I'd be nuts to give them any of my future business.

I found another local guy, so I'm going to swing by his shop in the morning.
