the CORRECT SL55 fuel pump p/n please?
Can someone clear up a little confusion I have as to which part number is associated with the SL55 fuel pump that is a direct plug and play upgrade for our SRT6's?
I've came across the following alleged p/n's from 2 different sources:
0014704994
AND/OR
0014706594
Someone please clarify which one is correct.
I know Needswings sells a "55 Fuel Pump", but there isn't a p/n in his listing. I like to do research on items from more than one source before I buy. I don't want to waste my time researching the wrong p/n.
Thanks in advance XF Fam!

The stock pump cranks out a lot of pressure. Honestly is that a upgrade? I have changed a few on my 350 and still have a few sitting around but with tha amount of pressure i never thought it was worthwhile.
The stock fuel pump can not handle stacked pulleys. I have the 65mm SC pulley and i plan to do the 178 crank pulley before spring. Car will run dangerously lean without fuel pump and fuel filter upgrade.
Curiously, if you search 2005 SL55 fuel pump (oediscountparts.com in this instance) it gives you both of the pump numbers you mention. Since they are both called out and the price is identical , I suspect the part is as well (likely the newer part supersedes the other). However, if in doubt, I'd buy the 0014706594 which is called out for both the SL55 and SL65.
Cheers,
Chris

Now that you are even more confused. I can definitely tell you two things . . . Back at that time I determined that a Pierburg pump part number 7.00228.51 and a Pierburg pump part number #7.28337.00 are both correct for a Mercedes SL55. I can also tell you that the pump Rob at Needswing supplies is a TI Automotive pump with part number A 000 478 21 01 . . . I know because I bought one from Rob and it was still unopened in the box he sent to me . . . I just opened it up to check it out.

I went through this same issue back when I was upgrading the fuel pump on my #1 SRT6 . . . Read through this thread . . . (see post #14 in particular)

Thanks for the education now i get to search for stacked pulley. ... lol
Got it thanks!!!
Just to add to the confusion....here's a summary I did from Pierburgs catalogue 18months ago.
Also some notes and links I saved when I was doing the research.
Take it or leave it.
You see the stock is the 7.22355.01.0 - which I could never find a pump curve for....(input appreciated)
the upgrade is to the 7.00228.51.0 used on your higher power (more fuel) cars....I have that curve.
I haven been able to find the 51.0 for less than $355 in Australia and any import would cost me about the same.
PS - the SL55's had an accompanying Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) speed control unit....you don't need that appendage.
How its wired alternatively - GG may help.

yes - apologies for the "bum steer" - it could be for the older SL600 (129) 290kW (394ps) at 4bar (58psi) 7.21088.62.0
and not the same spec as the much revered 7.00228.51.0 capable of 72psi = for the later models in the 350+kW (500ps) level of performance
from the pdf I posted in #11 - some numbers to chase for that one...
A 001 470 49 94
...001 470 49 94 (not sure if the missing A means something)
A 001 470 65 94
...001 470 65 94
A 000 470 21 01
...000 478 21 01 (note this also differs from the one before by the 8)

I just opened my genuine OEM Mercedes parts box from a Mercedes parts provider with the part #A 001 470 65 94 on the top of the box, but the pump inside the box was a TI Automotive #A 000 478 21 01 as was mentioned above. I thought I was going to be getting a Pierburg. So; If Rob sells this TI Automotive pump, and it has the OEM Mercedes symbol on it (which it does), we can assume it is the real deal.................. Right? Did Pierburg(Germany)move, and change its name to TI Automotive(Poland), or did Mercedes change to TI Automotive(Poland) for the supply of these newer pumps?
A quick check on Wikipedia tells me that in 2003, TI Automotive acquired Pierburg fuel pumps in Germany, and these particular pumps are being made in Poland now. So; if you have a pump that is stamped with "Pierburg" instead of TI Automotive, it means your pump is rather OLD.
