Default Auxilliary Pump hoses

I am hoping this thread could shed little more info, mostly concerning the hoses for the intercooler pump, stock, without mods other than the new 010pump. Are there 4 hoses to the pump, 3 to the bottom and one to the top? Is there a more specific link that might have photos of the pump repacement? Tigheds supercooler install shows a lot as well as does the johnson pump install.
~~Does the frontmost hose closest to the radiator that seems to attatch from the top on one end, attach on its opposite end to the water pump? I can see one going up to the recovery tank, and two going to the intercooler coil. The fourth one is a bit of a mystery.
~ I took the numbers off of the hose closest to the radiator and got a MB number of A170-832-42-94. FCP euro seems to stock this part without a picture.
Decided to start this thread so as not to hijack the other similar thread.

The description of the above stated hose reads..
Mercedes Engine Coolant Hose (SLK32 AMG SLK320) - Genuine Mercedes 1708324294
Auxiliary Water Pump, Heated Windshield Washer System, Outlet
~Perhaps this is where the (2007) thread concerning heated windshield washing fluid originated.

The windshield washer fluid is warmed electrically at the jets when the outside temperature gets to a certain level.

New hoses arrived yesterday. Can the IC pump be changed from the top? or, passenger tire and inner fender liner Must be removed first to gain access? Thanks.

Definitely removal/replacement can't be done from the top. It would be ideal to have access to a lift to remove the passenger front tire and inner liner to access the IC pump. Don't forget to have clamps available to reduce the loss of fluid during the process. There is a pictorial on the process, if you use the search button.
Good Luck....

Go to the thread ‘Index of Crossfire .....’ in my signature in red, go to thE SRT6 engine section and look at ‘Installing a Johnson pump’ you will see what has to be removed to access the pump. There is a fastener that is hard to see that attaches the liner to the cars frame. From the pictures it looks like there is access to the area behind the bumper cover, there is a cover there actually.
I took the opportunity to hold the fog light covers down with Gorilla tape as one of mine had swung open and rubbed against the tire which wore away half of the cover. Others have had the covers fall off. Mine are on there really held down.

Just watched a video on yootube where the guy was changing out his ic pump on a MB, he only removed the belly plastic not the wheel liner and showed how he crimped off the hoses and removed the unit....which leads to my next question concerning purging the air from those lines. He used a hose setup and removed a cap specifically for purging.. I vaguelly remember reading here where someone wrote that our system is self-purging. I'll consult your link to the Johnson pump then wing it. Meanwhile, it's out to the 99 degree shop to get this party started. Thanks 180

There are two pumps!! Whats the smaller one for? That's where the frontmost hose was connected on one side to. The inner fender liner is sectioned in that the entire liner didn't have to be removed to gain access to the IC pump. Looking at the numbers on the one we replaced I discovered, either the car was built with the 010 pump, or someone had already changed it, so now I have a spare on the shelf.
The mystery tiny hose was connected to the blank nipple on the IC pump and the other end traveled along a larger hose then made a down-turn then went to nowhere like a vent of some sort. Anyway, the hose crisis is over..all is good, I can go back to working on the Vega.

The smaller one is the REST pump - it circulates residual warm water in the engine through the heater core if you press the 'REST' button with the ignition off.
This is a MB feature to keep the car warm for a short period while you are out.
The system will automatically shut off if you turn the key in the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position, after approximately 30 minutes, or if the battery voltage drops.

I have used the REST feature before, but I used it to blow cold AC air to harvest the remaining coolness of the evap. coil when stopped and engine off. I hadn't realized that a pump was involved with this feature.
