In neutral standing still my 2006 base coupe will not go over 4,300 rpm. This is when all fuses are in, when only 18 is pulled, and when 17 & 18 are pulled.

Now when fuse 18 is only pulled the orange abs and bas lights come on and the traction control cant be turned on or off. I can rev it up and drop the clutch and it will burn rubber as long as it can and chirp second hard. No signs of any TC. If i pull 17 & 18 there is no difference in launching.

Now as far as getting to redline in both instances I CAN. Pulls all the way hard with no problems.

Kind of weird that it wont let me rev past 4,300 EVER but i can run it to redline no matter what.

So what do you all think about that. Bone stock.
I can push the little button on the dash...rev it up, dump the clutch and spin 'em for a few feet, powershift 2nd and chirp 'em hard, powershift 3rd and chirp 'em. All without pulling a fuse, WHY would I want to give up 1,500 rpm?

In my (albeit limited) time on this forum, there's 2 things you can count on...HDDP knows more about Crossfires mechanicals than you, and Andrew knows more about keeping Crossfires clean than you!

Maybe I'm wrong...but I don't think so!

I'm not doubting HDDP's knowledge at all but he did put out the test for everyone to try.

Now when i push the button on the dash vs. taking out the fuses the cars traction control kicks in very abruptly if i try to launch it hard. With the fuses i get more than just a "few feet" i can spin them hard for at least 25 ft and scream them in second hard. Its a very noticeable difference.

But my car does go by 5,200 which HDDP said it couldn't with the fuses pulled. So i was just trying to make that point.

Unfortunately i still cant get past the rev limiter when in neutral and stopped.

I hate to say it...but I stand corrected!

I yanked fuses 17 & 18 and went for a drive...OMFG!!!

I still had control of the rear spoiler via the button, but the abs and esp lights were on in the dash.

I went straight to redline...grabbed second, and went sideways!

Then I went home to grab the camera!

Uploading to youtube as I type this...I'll update with a link when it finishes!

sorry about the quality...hard to hold a little camera and drive a stick on Michigan roads!

Mine doesn't work. Is this something changed on the '06?

Hey fortknox 82,

I'd like to pull fuse #18 next time I take my 2006 base six-speed coupe to the strip.

Is that fuse under the hood in the electronics box under the hood ?

Or inside the car in the dash ?

Don't feel bad Slim, I've tried this on 3 different 6 spd Crossfires and it didn't work on any of them... It caused RPM cut out at 5k.

Under the hood, they are 40 amp fuses that are orange. Watch Apkano's video and you will be able to see.

Just curious, what year is your Crossfire ? And when you pull the fuses does the engine cut RPM at 5,000 ?

HDDP: '05 and yes, but it's a rev limiter not a fuel cut. The fuel is cut normally, not when these fuses are pulled.

Well, then... There must be something strange here then... Mine is an '04 and it doesn't work and cuts power at 5k, yours is an '05 and doesn't work either... I have tried it on other '04 & '05 models and it doesn't work, yet these other members are saying it works on theirs ?

Well so far we have seen it work on '05 and '06 so sometime during '05 things changed in the programming? Need someone else with an '06 to try it out and then an early '05 vs a late '05.

I'm gonna say mine was an early '05. I bought it in March and it was already on the lot, so yea I'd say early.

Well I hope that's the case cause then we can just swap computers or something around that idea.

Get with Apkano and see if you can find out his build date versus yours.

Actually, that is how the rev limiter works on this car... It cuts the fuel to the injectors...

I know the fuel is cut normally, but when this fuse is pulled, I bounce off the limiter. Under normal circumstances I just o to Red line and then it dies...

Removed fuses on my 2005 (May 2004 Build Date) SRT-6, ABS and Traction Control fault light illuminate on the dash. Full power all the way to red line! I was able to break the tires loose and slide the car at will and lock up the tires without computer intervention.

Well it's starting to look like this is isolated to the '04 '05 manual transmission version... KUDOS to all that have tested this on different versions...
