Ansa Muffler just arrived Pics!
I got the Ansa yesterday and installed it today with the stock tips modded on. It looks good but its a little loud for me so if anyone is interested in buying mine let me know, or else I may just add a resonator.

I hear that with most mufflers, they mellow with time so you might want to try to drive around for a while before making your decision to remove it. In some of the posts I've read that it can take a few weeks to months before they mellow. That all depends on how much you drive the car. This is a good excuse to take out the XF every day and drive it as much as possible.
If after a while you decide it's still too loud shoot me a PM and I may just take the Ansa off your hands.
Good Luck...
I took a couple pictures of my ansa with stock tips. You can see the tips are just sticking out about an inch more due to the longer muffler, but might even look better than stock that way.
Looks great! My Ansa should be here on Tuesday. I want to set-up mine the same way. How much louder is it than stock? Did you consider throwing in some Dynamat or Second Skin sound deadening in the rear?
I'm stunned to hear anyone thinks the ANSA is too loud ... mine is really quite mellow and not at all loud ... in fact, I wouldn't mind if my were just a bit MORE loud than it is ... ... can't help wondering if theiy're all the same ...

I didnt take the time to see what the stock tips sounded like I didnt like the look of them, they take up a lot less space in the back end since the stock tips are really wide so I didnt even bother.
I'm posting a vid on youtube right now I will post here when its ready.
I took an outside clip but it didnt come out very well due to the outside noises and my camera isnt great. Here is an inside clip, sorry I wasnt able to edit it since the camera films in quicktime, so only the first min or so is relevant, the rest is sitting at a stoplight.

I have pics of this earlier in this thread, I'd like to sell the muffler its a little too loud for my taste, send me a PM if interested.

Sounds pretty sweet I must say.
BTW I would offer to purchase but I already have mine!
Thanks
Nate
My guess is that the Ansa with the stock resonator tips may be a little more tame than with the open non-resonator Crossfire tips. Again just a thought.

Exhaust tips actually do play a role in the final sound of an exhaust. Where mufflers and resonators take care of the good majority of exhaust pulse cancellation and silencing, the exhaust tip can shape the remaining pulses and accompanying sound as it makes its final exit from the pipe. Much in the same way a Tuba sounds different than a Trumpet, a short megaphone exhaust tip will sound completely different than a long pencil-shaped exhaust tip. Some exhaust tips even add a small resonator to the equation to help mellow and deepen the exiting exhaust note. A perforated tube surrounded by sound deadening material puts one last mellowing touch on the exhaust pulses before they reach your ears and the ears of others.
I was going to switch out tips with the factory Crossfire ones, but after reading this I think I'll keep the Ansa resonator tips intact.

If for no other reason you will get to keep the stock exhaust intact so if/when you want to re-install it, you can.
Also I'm still thinking that if you did a true apples for apples side by side test through the entire RPM range, the stock Ansa would be "tuned" better, and not give you a possible unwanted sonic disturbance.

I really dont think it's as big a difference in sound from what I've heard.
Heres a clip of the normal ansa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0a80cFM3XXA
Here's the ansa with stock tips http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NhSJfBqeF4
When I watch other people's ansa it sounds just like mine with the stock tips, if you listen closely they slightly resonate at the exact same place too. The stock tips make it look a whole lot better for sure, I thought the normal ansa tips made it looks aftermarket, they just didnt fit the back end right.

The first video link you posted was the one I made a short time ago
As you see I am getting on it hard to demonstrate the true sound.
I wanted to use my stock tips but the inlets from the stock tips are so narrow compared to the Ansa tips.
Could you show some close up pics of the welds and how the stock tips were modified to adapt to the Ansa. I'm just very curious to see this.
I can't really hear your video as well but I think these things sound perfect.

I didnt look super close to what the muffler guy was doing, but while the ansa tips looked fatter, the actual pipe inside them are about the same size or pretty close to the stock ones so I'm thinking he shaved the ansa ones off and welded the stock ones on.
I can take a picture hopefully this weekend, theres thunderstorms for the rest of the week here and I dont have a garage.

Just ordered my Ansa muffler from the person that was specified on the site. He mentioned there was a discount for ordering if you mention the Crossfire Forum. A little info on Ansa and this particular muffler. It was designed originally for the C4 Corvette. Ansa makes mufflers for Italian made cars and motorcycles. The Ansa representative mentioned that they have made OEM mufflers for Maserati, Ferrari, and Lamborgini for over 30 years. On the motorcycle side they make mufflers for Ducati and Aprilia scooters. I am a bit curious to know what the price is without the discount.

It seems now that they are clearing inventory on them.
