I'll go $600 for plain steel, as long as it makes 20hp. I think this is a good starting price, and allows those who want ceramic coating to pay extra if need be.
Add anothe $300 for coatings and your at $900

There is no way I would pay $900 for coated plain steel headers.

If it could stay around the 500 mark, I would most defenitly be interested in a set. Keep us posted. But of course, its gotta be bolt in, without any major issues(please) I spend enough underhood time on the other cars. lol

what do you recommend then? Stainless headers are not a nessesity

If you had to calculate your time fabing up your own headers, your probably looking at 4 days worth of work maybe a week.

$600 for plain steel or $900 is cheap for ceramic coated steel headers that makes another 20hp. I have better things to do with my time than spends weeks making parts and buying tools and supplies to build stuff. plus the guy making the parts needs to pay an employee to weld the headers up, and then there is over head, I mean come on, don't be a cheap ***, the guy need to have some prifit so he can develope other parts for us.

the great thing about making parts for the crossfire is that they will also fit other Mercedes vehicles so the manufactuer is operationg in a larger customer base. I think is a great oportunity.

Here I go again...

I would be considering HP & torque gains, not coatings and materials... Hell, I'd take a set of headers made of cardboard and coated with cow dung if they gave me a 20 hp gain...

All due respect guys, I've done a bit of homework pm this subject... Yes, a properly designed set of headers will give us about 2.5% HP increase over the OEM without other modfifications... And you will need to spend somewhere in the range of $1,500 to $3,000 to have them custom built...

If somebody says they will build you headers for less, (RUN AWAY)

If I had to spend up to $3000 for a set of headers, I would instead take the welding class at the community college and make them myself and a jig so that I could make a few more sets to sell to you guys (until mine were paid for). I have had custom headers made for me before and I didn't pay anywhere near that much. I had a set made for my GT 40 replica that where a crossed over 360 degree system (bundle of snakes) that also included a custom made muffler and exits for $950.

It's for a C32 - same engine - Wider frame.

I guess I will have to stay with the stock exhaust setup for the time being... I hope Basslover911 comes through with a wicked setup.

You all did see the ones that AMGrasoul made, didn't you?

I don't see the point in wasting time on a short tube header. You'd be better off dumping the front cats, building a long tube header, and using 2 1/2" tubing to make a new 'mid pipe' and get rid of that 2 1/4" exhaust that is down there just after the stock manifolds and first set of cats.

If you are going to go 'custom', I would think you may as well go ahead and go to a long tube.

You could relocate your o2's if needed.
