I'm hoping that my careful driving will avoid problems. In other posts there is mention that Mercedes parts are cheaper than Chrysler. It's a matter of matching up the clutch pressure plate and throw-out bearing part numbers. But the quoted ~$650 for the pair sounds reasonable. For a high end labor estimate, it took 9 hours to replace the clutch and flywheel on my A6 quattro which I suspect is more difficult to access due to the quattro. Maybe someone has had a clutch replaced on a 3 series BMW which is also RWD.

I'm also wondering if AMG made any high performance (= stage 2 or 3) clutch plates for the SLK320. A heavy duty clutch should last forever in the n/a engine.

Now if you also replace the bearing there is another $300.
The list price for the pressure plate and disc is $583 - discounted to $422.29
If you need the the release bearing (always a good idea) list is $310 discount $223.85
2500 if you're looking at the trans...

Go back and read- someone was quoted ~$2500 to change a clutch.

Replace the plate, the throwout bearing and resurface the pressure plate.
Dealers want $2,500 'cause they job some of this out and, it is a Benz, not a Chevy Cobalt.

You are not tossing a new set of brake pads in. I haven't been under there myself but; Split drive shaft has to be pulled, carrier bearing, Tranny down and out. Hydraulics capped off and then bled for reconnection.

Like I said, it ain't a Chevy.roadster with a stick
I’ve went through this twice in clutch replacement with my 05 manual. Both times it caused heat friction to warp the flywheel. It’s a dual plate so your average oreillys shop cannot or won’t try to resurface so you’ll need to purchase a new DMF079 not DMF081 the SLK320s use. I’m fortunate to get 60k out of this clutch till the throwout bearing blew apart. Warrantied by autozone and their playing half labor at my local CDJR paid 2k last time with employee pricing and a used LUK flywheel with 60k on it

Not sure how you are driving your XF, but I am 65k and clutch still shifts great (and tranny 1-2 still shifts like s**t).

It was shifting just fine until I took the car to the body shop since a gate fell on the quarter panel. It wasn’t slipping until I got the car back, I should have took it back and told them but I didn’t. I could have easily drove that car around 10k but whoever at the body shop couldn’t drive the car to save them

I had 116,000 on the Graphite when it was totaled, original clutch. Clutches do not fail and will last a lifetime, if the driver understands how to use a clutch.

Are you saying someone at the shop tore the clutch up, playing with the car? Cause it sounds that way to me. I don't see how a gate "falling on the quarter panel" could cause this.
