O2 Sensor Replacement
Re: O2 Sensor Replacement
05" Roadster. Upstream sensorbad , noted by dealer....COST $740....Will never go through that again. 4 months later light is on again. Went back to dealer. They told me it is not the one they replaced. Cost $75 for scan, Dealer said for another $700 they would replace it . I said "screw you". Went to a neighborhood shop , he said go to Auto Zone & get one for $120 & they put it on for $30....Dealerships are like gangsters....
Re: O2 Sensor Replacement
I had an upstream O2 sensor code reset and now the check engine light is off, however I figure it's just a matter of time before it's back so I am going to replace them. I was wondering if I could get some advice on the cheap sensors I see on ebay. Has anyone used these? Do they function properly, or should I just bite the bullet and pay the Bosch price? I'd appreciate any insight or feedback.

Re: O2 Sensor Replacement
Thank you Pizza Guy. Many times the information is so convoluted that for us novices, we are lost. And the more we are reading into a 'thread', the more lost we (I) become. Simple answers are the best until we begin to reach the point you 'educated, experienced' owners have. I just want to enjoy my car without spending a more than is necessary, yet keep it running smoothly.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: O2 Sensor Replacement
Thank you to all who replied about the O2 sensors. I will try to list it. I became a little scared when a repair shop said that "they saw that the harness was going into the firewall." And when I looked it did! But I'm hoping that the sensor somehow disconnects as a plug in. Wish me luck! I'll let you know.
Just one thing: with all of the pictures and info about various topics on the XFires, is there anywhere with pictures of the O2 sensors being changed? Or, pictures of where they plug into harness

Re: O2 Sensor Replacement
I have never replaced the O2 sensors, but I believe the cables on them are not very long. THere is a quick-disconnect plug in line, you've got to get the cable out of the protective sleeve I mentioned above to get to it.
ALSO, be very careful about what sensor you order. You want the "direct replacement" ones, some come with the cable, but not connector and you must then change the connector housings yourself. NOT a fun job at all.
Order the "exact fit" Bosch sensors. But don't change the sensors unless you KNOW that is the issue. Bad plugs or plug wires will cause the cylinders to miss, putting high levels of O2 in the exhast, causing O2 codes. This happened to me around 100,000 miles. 12 plugs and wires solved it.

Also you may just need to reset the code to see if it comes back....
