Default help transmission leak maybe?

so hears the problem i took my car up on a lift after i noticed a small oil stain (quarter sized) on my drive way it looks like there is a small leak coming from the front seals of my transmission. i understand to fix that it would most likley be really expensive (the ONLY down side of the MB motor) but i cant find the trnsmission dipstick?? or resivior? so guys should i just add a little fluid everyone once in a while or....?

Did mine just a few weeks ago. Would be a very easy job if you have a hoist. PITA if your laying on your garage floor with the car as high as you can get and your gut is jammed up against the underbody. Obviously I don't have a hoist.

This is my project this week, and no hoist, how high did you have to lift your Crossfire to work on the transmission, and about how long did it take to fix ?

I lifted mine on the passenger side only and as high as my jack would extend...approx 18 inches. Less fluid will drain out when lifted on the passenger side only. ALWAYS use axle stands for safety,
I lost about 2/3rds of a litre once I removed the connector and bushing but I tried to catch as much as possible in a pan to measure how much was lost.

Thanks Sparkie, I have raised the front end with 2 jacks, and placed 2 axle stands under the cross-members.
I gained about 14 inches of clearance, but I will pick up 2 more axle stands tomorrow and jack up the rear, then see if I can get more clearance .
Access to the connector was a question I was going to ask but you stated you came in from the passenger side, so thats a done deal.
Providing the jacks hold and I am not crushed to death I will post how easy /hard this task is tomorrow.(as long as my arthritic wrists will allow me to type)

I have 2 SRT Sixes and both leaked from the NAG connector while it sits. The part is $15 at the dealer and PLEASE let them do it as it takes a computer and special dipstick tool to get the level right depending on temperature. PS> I work at a chrysler dealer and it is like a hundred dollar fix. DON"T DO IT YOURSELF with tranny!!!

BTW the NAG connector is just inches behind the bell housing, oh and one of mine broke while being removed and the tranny had to come out. It was free since still under warranty but the second one cost me $86 Neither lost a drop since!

Mine just started leaking this week. Was considering doing it myself but no time and I don't have appropriate ramps. Dealer quoted part at $15. Parts and labor at dealer was quoted for me at about $180 ---- but I'm hoping it will end up being closer to the $100 cost you noted. Pretty well sucks that these things leak like this (less than 10K miles on mine) but as usual, the forum helps us figure out these things and when we do to dealers with it, we can direct them right to the issue.

My service advisor say they are ripping you off It is that I paid for actual time and they are quoting possible time. Tell them you will wait on it and watch the tech

Will do. I'm hoping they just quoted me a high price estimate and the time / rate will end up around the 100 range. I plan to watch and wait too. Thanks for the response and feedback. I'll let you know where it ends up with the cost.

Sorry to hear that the arthritis is preventing you from getting this done. Depending on the severity of your leak you may want to get it done before spring as the leak will continue all winter long while it sits until you run out of fluid. Mine started while it was sitting and got worse as the climate changed to colder temps.

Just took mine in to get the tranny connector installed. Part was $15. Fix time would have been about a half hour. Unfortunately for me, the tech had the same issue as others with the bolt / screw which holds the connector into the tranny -- it loosend but he wasn't able to extract it. The fix then goes to having to pull pan, break the connector to get it out an order the whole internal part for which the connector plugs into. Quote for that part was $1400!!!!!. I had them put back in the old one and am now looking for further guidance and extracting the bolt (I talked to the tech and he tried applying pressure and backing it out but it didn't work) and / or purchasing the part myseld and having them install it. ANY IDEAS ARE APPRECIATED?
