Default What's the average price for Auto Trans. Fluid change?

I know I found this information a few months ago and now I can't find what I'm looking for. My car has 80K miles on it and I remember reading that this is the time to change the Auto Trans. fluid and filter. What I was wondering is what the average price for this fluid and filter change is. Am I looking and more than $600?
Thanks in advance for your guy's help!

Had mine done last spring at 5 years, 34,500 miles by the dealer.

Labor $106.40
Gasket $21.42
Filter $35.65
Fluid $96.00
Total $259.47

They also found a leaking transmission plug.
Labor $88.00
Plug $11.16
Total $99.16

You only need about 4 liters of fluid if you are going to just drop the pan. Earlier Mercedes were equipped with torque converters that you could drain and would need the extra fluid. The pan has a reusable gasket so no need to buy anything else. Just back flush the filter with a cleaner and reinstall it too. Measure how much fluid you remove and put back in what you took out. There is a thread floating around here on how to make your own dipstick.

They charged me for 6 quarts of fluid at $16 per. So I guess they replaced it all, as I had asked.
Don't understand why you would do this service and reuse the old fluid and filter, maybe the gasket. Do they last forever, like Chuck?

Don't think Chuck was saying use the old fluid, just put the same amount of new fluid as you took out of the old.

Correct, new fluid in the same quantity that came out, but back flush and reuse the filter. Check the fluid level at full operating temperature.

Finally had time to take it in today. The bill for everything was 197.50 including tax.
Not too bad actually.
