Mercedes Engine Cover Mods and 74 mm Throttle Body
Take it another step for a few bucks.. get under hood sound and a little more out of it.. air temps are no worse than the OEM setup, and this is less restrictive..

It works, but trust me you want to go ahead and do the full coool air intake and not hte warm air intake like the Ebay sale shows. I had a Spectre intake on mine and went ahead and got the tubing to make my cool air intake to replace the OEM intake. I also got a V8 intake to go with it. Not more than $130.00 for the entire intake setup and works great with the MAF and TB.

The V6 front part does not fit the V8 rear part.
Only one V6 cover assembly fits, the other are too high and rub on the Hood liner. and mark the cover.
If you are changing the cover then you should get the one that has the bigger filters or why bother.
Use #A 112 090 11 01 - main body.
Use #A112 010 04 67- front piece.
Use Filters, K&N's #33-2181, or OEM (paper) A 112 094 00 04
As described in post #1

That is not a picture of a V8 cover, V8 covers do not fit as I recall. They may look the same but the attachments points do not match the V6 engine.

That's certainly a V8 cover. it's the S430 cover. You can use the V6 front with the V8 back.

What are the part numbers for the record?

How do you have to modify the larger side of the tubes? I know you recommend the spacers going into the engine cover / air boxes, but what about the other end?
Would it make more sense to use a generic 3" intake tube? Something like this?

Yes, it rubs the liner.

I think I got the tubes for the W123 (they were cheap and on Ebay and just the right size for the airbox.) I got the Needwings Devil Horns, but only used the tubes through the front and not the horns themselves.

I think V8 parts start with 113 xxx xx xx. Maybe not (?)
V8 air boxes mount in different positions if I recall and this puts the front part too far forward. I had all these parts and junked them at the tip.

I have a question about the intake tubes. Instead of the benz parts, I used generic autozone 3" tubes and cut off the ends of my old crossfire intake tubs to connect them into the front end radiator fittings for air intake.
Does the small size of those fittings basically make this entire mod useless, as the size of the air intake is the same as OEM?
Or do the bigger filters/tubes mean that more suction is created or something for more air? The cold air intake side of the tubes is the same as the original though.

You can compare it to a can with a smal hole leak and the same can with two holes the same size, the can with two holes will drain first.

I do have all the parts, here, in Buffalo, in the mail or on a Purolator truck. JIT(FTT), just in time for the tune.
I'm actually very good at planning and micro managing, by the time I have proved to myself I could do a project I forget about it and move on to the next. Just ask my wife, I planned for a big family, had one child and then moved on to the next project. It saves money and leaves lots of time for more planning.
Around the house I'm a virtual handyman.
My motto, how hard can it be?
As for the clubbin', there weren't too many seals on the ice this year, so we shot a few polar bears.

Actually it was completed, driven, replaced by an SRT and is now virtually forgotten.
