In the excitement of getting torque capacities I just jumped strait to the number that looked best without thinking past that.

That being said, I read in other posts that people were under the assumption the tranny would hold up to 400 ft/lbs but not the clutch and flywheel... Can that be confirmed or denied? If that is true then in theory stage 2+ or even 3 would be ideal right?

Unconfirmed numbers at the moment...
I'm still hunting my replacement car, and honestly I'm not going to let transmission dictate the purchase. My biggest priority is a sano interior and clean bill of health. Lantana is running the V-8 on his transmission and no issues yet. We can always retard the power of the turbo kit to "just" 330-TQ (330 flywheel TQ is not a wimpy number with our gearing and weight).
With auto I have paddle-shifters and TCU mod. With manual, I have the ability to pick gears whenever (though not necessarily faster or smoother).
So, it's still a toss-up. Longevity concerns with the upgraded clutch and DM flywheel are very real to me, and are currently unchartered territory.
For the price of the new clutch, flywheel, and the labor to reassemble it all, you can send your transmission to RennTech and have them rebuild it stronger.
Just a thought...
Just wanted to say I have been reading Corky's book and I am really getting excited. Growing up building muscle cars I have always been a supercharger kind of guy. I just never could stomach the 12k for the kleeman SC.
The more I read Corky's book and speak to my dad (who helped develop and run the turbo diesels on the Navy's FFGs) I just get more excited about this project.

Hi Guys,
I have not posted much lately. I was at our coporate HQ all last week for training, meetings, dinners and Christmas party. Over the weekend I injured my back and the doctor says I have a ruptured disc which is also causing sciatic nerve pain in my left leg. The meds are working and I think I can get out of bed today! I am being sent to a spine doctor who is going to do a MRI and see if I need surgery. OH fun!
I did speak to Corky and he is in the process of nailing down the date to receive Proto !. Once we have that date we need to get deposits in about a week before proto 1 arrives. I will have more updates on timing, costs deposits etc within a couple of days. I have been using my down time to read Corky's book. anyone who doesn't have one should get one. It is a great book and really shows Corky's approach and engineering knowledge regarding turbo's. One of the things I found very interesting is that the key to making lots of safe HP, intake temps are extreamly important and boost alone doesn't make HP.

I will probably be getting his book in the next week or so, and just let me know when deposits are needed and how he will accept them.
Best regards,
Josh

A little update on my end: it seems that the market for the Limiteds has gone up (unless you get one that's ragged on) and the price point is literally within a thousand bucks of comparable-mileage SRTs... Thus the pickle I am in.
I want to remain loyal to the project, but at the same time, I have the possibility of buying a SRT --already modded with the pulley, tune, and intake -- for the same price as the Limited, stock (!!!). I'm not going to lie, I'm scared of the six speed. Not for the strength of the gears themselves, but for the clutch and DM flywheel. The DM (dual-mass) flywheel is a finicky beast, from what I've read. While throwing a $1,000 Spec Clutch on the tranny sounds like an easy fix, we have no hard evidence as to how sustainable that would be for a daily. If you remember, I was having synchro issues in my 6MT before the wreck. Not debilitating, but present nonetheless. And I was at ~250 crank when I ran the road course...
I am at a crossroads where I can buy a Limited for $14,500 or a ready-to-go SRT for ~$1,000 more (with lower mileage, to boot). Remaining loyal to the Limiteds would mean that I would likely get the auto trans (for above fears listed). So, we're at $14,500 + $3,500 for BEGi Turbo + supporting hardware (mufflers, engine cover, cooling?) which puts me at $18,000 and I haven't even touched brakes, suspension, aesthetics, etc. Before long I'll be at $20,000 for a car with ~345 crank horsepower. Will it be rare? Yes. Smart? No.
On my old car, it made sense to jump into the turbo fray because I already had it in-hand and had no intent to sell it. Once my baby was destroyed, the equation ($$$) changes for me.
I'm a man of my word and if the $200 R&D is still needed to get the project off the ground, I will contribute as this was in writing before my misfortune. I simply can't guarantee (at this point) that I can proceed as planned with the full kit.
Now, if I can find a clean white roadster with vanilla guts and <50,000 miles for $13K, we're in business. But, a quick glance at autotrader makes that a pipe dream. Said car is fetching SRT money. And if I'm going with a Limited, it must be the above combo. Only way I see that happening is having a dealer buy one for me at auction, and I give him the cash to do so. Still a possibility, but less likely.
I understand if everyone throws rotten tomatoes at me now, but money is money.
John,
No worries, you need to do what you think is best for you. We won't balme you for going to the dark side with a blue, grey or black car
Don't wory about a deposit. Corky has no intent of making money on deposits. He is counting deposits as commitments for kits to make sure there will be enough kits purchased to make financial sense and for all development time needed to produce a top notch kit. I have to admit that as someone who likes to be different, I am hoping you will find that white roadster for a steal.

Here is a roadster alabaster/vanilla in Florida, Im not sure if you have seen it yet. The mileage is a tad over along with price but its not in the absolute best condition so you may be able to negotiate price...

Plus Lake Tahoe is just up the road. Great Drive in the Crossfire!! Nevermind, gambling, free drinks and mountain roads....bad combination.
