Bump bump. Two weeks?

To be fair to Corky here, your last 2 week reminder was only 8 days ago

Well that's O.K. coz Corkys doesn't know if it is 8 days, 2 weeks or 2 plus years. I can fathom any reason to be "fair to Corky" in any of this.

I don't understand why he doesn't just give someone a call that knows what they're doing... Hint hint Crock.. I mean Corky.

The reason for that statement? I stumbled into the solution! Down to drawing schematics for Bart to rig it up!

LOL yeah. I have so much free time, I don't know what to do with myself!!

I mean really though. My current full time job, plus the other full time job they threw at me when the lady left, the other full time job because they laid off a guy just to turn around and hire him government 6 months later. Plus keeping up with the kids and giving them as much fun to have as possible. Divorce paperwork. Working on the cars. Developing knew things for all these people all the time. Maintenance on the house, and still maintaining somewhat of a social life.... I mean really Corky, what the hell?

I don't know if he's old and stubborn, but he's never going to get there with the NA ECU. Even with 4 psi Bart's car is kind of iffy. It restrains itself from breaking anything when it leans out, but good luck trying to tune that out solid. You'll end up like my new customer in Texas that was on the NA 55 ECU when he had the 55K motor. He blew his motor 100 feet from the shop that said they could tune it out. His motor is so hacked and confused it'll never run right without the appropriate ECU, wiring harness, and electronic devices.

Honestly it's figured out at this point, I just need to draw the pretty pictures. I want to leave the ability to use the stock harness with the stock plugs intact. Just off to the side while the sensor we need is in place doing it's job.

When the 32 ECU was in and the car was idling, A/F was on the money. Tad rich, but damn good anyway. The issue is that the car would only start the one time with that ECU in. Come to find out it was a stupid sensor that we even had! Oh well, it'll be up and working good soon. Then it will be a matter of how much boost can we crank without needing a tune.

I'm late on this so forgive my ignorance. I was originally interested in the turbo when the original thread was created but did not have the funds to put the deposit down. From what I can gather, did this turbo project not work???

Stock M112K MAP sensor over runs at 21psi FYI.

This project never happened. If you want a turbo SRT-6, I know of one for sale.

I think 6 is ideal for what were shooting for. 8 may be too much. I think honestly with how it ran on the 32 ECU, 6 will work pretty decent without a tune. It may have hiccups but not as bad as the NA ECU with 4 psi. 8 will be up to him and he'll just have to keep a very close eye on things. If anything it could be tuned out at that point.

UPDATE
And it continues...

DJ,
It appears this business will survive. That is just one of the problems. Here is what the situation is today.

The rear mount turbo is a no go. I can’t build it in good conscience. It’s too complicated, too messy, and clearly something I would be embarrassed to call my product. The mandated objective of a $3,500 turbo system is a comedy and is not realistic for either performance or value. The idea is scrapped.

I don’t care what it costs, and with the functional needs for a successful turbo, both the rear mount and the $3.5k are unrealistic. If the Crossfire community wants a decent low cost turbo, they will need to up the ante.

Your car is an exception. I’ve found a means of putting the turbo up front and the layout looks good to me.

I’ve already built about half the parts needed and have a worker assigned to the car for 2 to 3 hours per day. I need to use a different turbo and several other changes, but no additional charge to you. I’ve not purchased the bigger turbo yet.

So, the end result is a piece I will be pleased with, and one that you will find substantially better than what we had essentially agreed to at the start. It also has avoided the circumstance of putting begi out of business.

As you know, I’m in for surgery in a couple weeks. The car will not be finished by then, but I have hired a fellow that will see us through with little further delay.

Corky

Wonder why your car is an exception?

Probably because he's had it so long. He was talking about cost and that we're cheap a$$'s here . The shoe's the right size on me lol.

What's interesting is that Banks made a turbo for the Jeep Wrangler TJ (1996-2005) and has a price point of $3k. Granted, the number of Jeeps on the road is significantly higher than our Crossfires, but they're just as old, and unlike the Crossfire world there are a NUMBER of engine upgrade options for the Jeep - easy bolt up V8 swaps, super chargers, etc. With little to zero bolt-on upgrades for the NA Crossfire, I would imagine a functioning (important word there) turbo kit could command more than $3,500.

That being said, I wouldn't buy a turbo kit from Corky even if he paid me $3,500...

DJ - hopefully you're not holding your breath too much on the fast turn around on this new version!
