Crankshaft Sensor Again???
About 8 months ago I was having a problem with my car shutting down while driving. It wouldn't make any noises while trying to start it. It ended up being the crankshaft sensor.
About a week ago I was on the freeway going about 70 and my car felt like it had shut down and then kicked back on but It didn't actually shut down to where I had to pull over and then last night I was driving around town and I stopped at the store and when I came back out to my car it wouldn't start. It wasn't making any noises at all, it wasn't trying to start or anything but my lights and radio would come on. I kept trying to start it about about 45 minutes of sitting there it finally came on and I drove it home and it started just fine this morning. I just put a new battery in about 5 months ago. Could this be the crankshaft sensor going out again??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, hence the common term " Mystery no-start"
I wish i could tell ya,,, i have been battling the same issue started with bad battery , replaced it and a week later crank sensor went out , now does the same thing , bought a new sensor still no crank i love my blaze red xfire dont wanna lose her saw other blogs about siolder being bad will try that --scanned it no codes still scratching my head and cranking -
I ended up doing the sauder for the relay control module,

I showed my mechanic the pictures of what needed to be done and he said that that was it and they fixed it and it only cost an hour of labor.
I do know that before it went out I was on a dirt road and that must have broke it (xfires are not made for the dirt).
The form above was a lot of help for me.

well tried that still will not crank------losing my mind here had a few tech friends eyeball it all say same thing -wow i am stumped ----scanned no codes -new CPS SENSOR -repaired relay control module --still no crank ---------headed to gas station 1 gallon should do the trick--------just kidding --any other ideas
this may be funny I am a salesman at a salvage yard : called a dodge dealer we deal with he said when i got the new CPS should have had FELT DISK TO SET AIR GAP MINE DIDNT HE SAYS THAT WILL KEEP IT FROM CRANKING MOVING TO THE NEXT ITEM THX VERY MUCH VEpiphpap3

Sometimes there is a bad connection at the battery and not enough power can get through to the cable.
Sometimes a bad ground on the starter will cause the same problem. Sometimes the cable is corroded under the insulation and will not allow power through to the starter.
As to the CPS, there are some that come with a paper disk over the end and this is knocked off by the teeth on the ring. My Bosch CPS did not come with this disk though. The CPS does not stop the engine from cranking if I remember correctly, the RCM fault will stop it cranking though.
I haven't dealt with an RCM issue.. but I would imagine it would be like when my battery went. Enough juice to run stereo etc.. all systems seemed normal, other than at start position with key, I could hear the relay switch click once and then there was nothing more. If I hadn't have already inspected my RCM, and hearing the "click" dead "weak" battery was my first guess on it.
I never saw a "felt disc" when dealing with mine.. Some members have had issues with the plug - connector on the cps though.. just a thought.. thorough inspection of pins-wires..
Personally I would not use anything but Bosch, but others work so.....
