New Hampshire 6-speed 500 (5.0) Underway!!
Yep, see the " 112 " as the start of the part number on the water pump? Look right below that and you'll see the number for the timing cover.
The only difference is the length and extended components for the 2 extra cylinders. Other than that, I can use anything from the V6 pretty much.

Looks like a Metzler/Pirelli which have a bald center from the begining
Yeah the pirelli diablo rosso II, but it doesn't come with a flat center. It's actually pretty steep from the factory. It was kind of scary compared to the BT-0016's I used to run on it. Those came flat as hell compared to the slope on these pirelli's.
I might have another angle, I'll look for one.
Good luck with the swap Josh i'll be reading with interest..............
how come your worried about the loom I thought wires were your thing?? Simon
Thanks! And there's nothing to start with how they gave it to me. I'd be re-pinning for a week with how they gave it to me.
Same over here most breakers are pretty much animals!!!! your only buying the engine so they cut & mutilate everything else......anyone can remove an engine in 20 min's with a " Gas Axe " !!!!!!!! That's why I want a whole 55 & do it my way!
I guess I was just surprised considering how I got my engine for my car. It had issues but not laziness hacking and ripping apart.
Was the last one plug to plug or did you splice the two looms V8 to V6 ? I remember you saying it was colour to colour which made it easier.......would be great if you could upload some pic's or a tutorial " HOW TO " of where you connect to the original wiring
There isn't really a way to write a "how to" on it. Every V8 and V6 harness is different. Changing multiple times through each year. The V8's have one big plug for the SAM, we use an RCM. So you have to study schematics. You CANNOT use the Chrysler schematics either, they're completely wrong. The wiring is the hardest part besides the ECU. Lots of research and triple checking everything.
Get to work young man.... I have my Tahoe and car trailer for sale. Liquidating anything I don't use daily as we speak. Hell, the roadster and coupe may be next...lol I might need a V-8 in the near future....
RCM can someone enlighten me Please

..........UPDATE the wife has just told me its obviously a "Reducing Centi Meter " Lol

Lol. I believe it is the Relay Control Module that is located in the truck. It controls power to different parts of the car.
1. the fuel pump.
2. engine control.
3. the fan that blows air in the exhaust on startup.
4. the horn.
5. traction control.

The RCM is the module with all the fuses in the black box by the battery. It has relays for :
1. the fuel pump.
2. engine control.
3. the fan that blows air in the exhaust on startup.
4. the horn.
5. traction control.

Thanks for clearing that one up guys.....
..........i've told the wife but she still prefers her answer & told me i'm her RCM ( Really Cuddly Man ) I think she just means FAT !

So, generally do we retain mostly Crossfire wiring, or are we ditching most of it for the V8 donor car's wiring?
I'm getting the bug for a 55K in my SRT6.

I'd say around 90% of the V8 wiring is retained. Like I said though, it depends a lot on the harness you get and year motor. No two swaps are identical, and I'm not trying to be a debbie downer but be prepared, the 55K swap is no joke... Even into an SRT.
I guess if it were easy, everyone could do it
Apparently I tore the engine down a little farther than needed to replace the timing cover, no worry, put some of it back together right? Well my buddy snapped a bolt in the head re-installing the rocker assembly :insertfacepalm. Not a big deal, but I wanted a break from that thing so I jumped the gun and made the ECU with a spare one I had laying around. 2 day project on that, but it's done and it's beautiful.
I also got a surprise ECU project done enough to see if it'll work :O ............. Can anyone say 55K manual with cruise in the R170 chassis
I figure a few more days, few hours here and there, and the motor will be pristine ready to go. Then it'll be a matter of ripping the V6 out, and dropping the 8 in, easy part. Fab is all ready to go. The only thing I'll be waiting on is shipping for the correct flywheel, but I need this one out first. All in all, I'll meet the deadline, but it'll be the later expected given the whole situation... Motor showing up the same day as the car when I wanted the motor a week before, Motor coming extremely damaged, Wrong year advertised, etc.

Well done Josh i'll be Auto but I assume the CRUISE is sorted for both transmissions????
