Deep rumbling mustle car sound
for a real muscle car sound, swap your favorite V8 into there.
a 6 will never sound like an 8... your choices are basically Borla or Magnaflow. do a search. the Borla is smooth and not much different than stock, and the magnaflow is louder and more aggressive, but not as high quality.
good luck --

...I agree, that the Crossfire will never sound like a muscle car. Then again, it was never supposed to be a muscle car. That said, if you open up the intake a bit (install cold air intake or short ram) and do the exhaust, it ought to sound pretty sweet. A good aftermarket exhaust will give it a deeper sound, and the intake(s) described will give it a nice roar at wider throttle openings. It will never sound like a V8, but I would put money on it sounding mean and aggressive if you do both of these mods.

Driving the base Crossfire as a loaner I can tell you it sure seems like a slug and a muscle car it is surely not...so my 2'cents would be to have a local exhaust shop fit you with an exhaust system you like (they can trade out mufflers during the process without having to actually install the muffler to give you an idea of what the system would sound like and then you could pick the one that fits your tastes) while saving you 1/2 the money of a Borla exhaust muffler in the process...
I had a set of Flowmaster 40 series on my 300m (3.5 v6) it sounded as close to a v8 as a 6 can. Real deep and growly. It was a dual exhaust system. But be careful using an exhaust on an automatic. They get an annoying drone.
I can 100% GUARANTEE YOU that the Magnaflow #14220 stainless steel muffler is the way to go, period! I still can't get over how my car sounds with it and get this, it cost me a total of $169.00 for the muffler and installation. I re-used the stock tips because for one they look good and are chrome and number two, they fit perfect, duh! If your not happy with the sounds of this muffler, I'll refund your money, I'm that sure you love it!!!
i did the same thing with my exhaust. i put on a FlowMaster though, but still used the stock tips. mine also cost $169. i love the way it sounds. it was way too quiet, even when i got on it. but now it is awesome.
