How to check transmission fluidsg
Hi everyone!
So my car came with that red dipstick. I guess there is only one version. How do I measure the tranny fluid the right way? I hear different instructions.
I sometimes fear I don't have enough fluid in there. Can it be topped off if so?
I took off the black cab (the red pin was already missing so someone had been in there already at one point).
Thanks for your instructions,
Nick

You have the "red" dipstick? The real long one with a black plastic tip marked at 25 and then farther up at 80 Celsius.
If not anything will do. Cold in park the fluid is up the dipstick about one inch; When warmed up the fluid is up the dipstick about two inches.
Start the car, leave it in park and measure the fluid. It will be about one inch up on the black tip. Let the car warm up to normal operating temperature.
Get in the car and move the transmission through the gears manually, then place the car back in park.
Measure it again. If you are near the 80C mark you are good to go. It doesn't need to be exact, give or take a little is fine.
If you need to add some, put it through the dip stick tube and use Pentosin ATF 134

Would you top off? Never had a leak or any fluid under the car.
If I top off, do you leave engine running and how much to fill in? And I guess just fill a little, check again, fill a little and so on.
But without further ado here is the picture:
No cause for concern, you can add a little (8 oz) at a time to bring it up to the bottom of the 80C mark, but you're OK.
In your case, if you choose to add fluid, I would add 8 oz then wait a day to measure again. That will allow the fluid you add through the tube to settle into the transmission.
