Default Removing Pinstripe

I am unsure if this was factory or added on by the dealer but I have a light silver pinstripe running from the rear to about the side vents on either side. I want this gone but, I am unsure how to do this, is it something I should have done by a shop or is it a DIY deal? I have read suggestions of using finger nail polish remover and then polishing/waxing afterwards, any thoughts?

If it's a piece of tape try heating the stripe with a hair dryer. It should melt the glue enough the remove the stripe. Use some goo-gone to remove any residual glue.

goo gone will not budge it... if it is painted on... finger nail polish remover will do the trick (just be sure not to get it on any exterior plastic areas). but some elbow grease will be required.

if its a pinstripe in tape forum... yep... a heat gun or blow dryer will loosen the adhesive and allow you to remove it with your finger nail.

cheers...

I guess the first thing to do is determine if it's painted or taped. I hope it's tape because I gotta tell ya, I'm a newb and putting fingernail polish remover on my car makes me a little nervous.

Thanks for your help! I will post results.

if you can scratch the pinstripe off with your finger nail... its tape.

if not... its painted on.

no need to worry... the fingernail polish remover will not effect the factory finish.

you can trust my many many years of experience on this one.

Opps forgot to mention, it was tape. It was fairly brittle but, still easy to remove.
