If you use the correct resistors with the LED bulbs, you will not have the Light Out indicator. The system thinks a bulb is out because the LEDs draw so little power, this is why a resistor is necessary......

I've been looking into replacing all my interior lights for awhile now so I've checked all the bulbs to make sure the ones on ebay are the same ones. It says 6418 is the size for license place/cargo/glove/dome lights BUT when I took apart the dome lighting it looked more like a bulb rather than the 36-38mm tube LED that goes in the license plate cargo and glove compartment. Does anyone know if the 36-38 mm will fit in the dome light or do I need that bulb looking light???

The dome light bulbs are definetly 2825 - like in the sidemarker.

ahhhhh I was wondering why the LED tube wouldn't fit that. Thanks!!! So I would probabl order at least four 2825 to replace the side markers and also inside dome lights.

So wait a second. What are the "map" lights that are 6418. This post says the glove/cargo and map lights are 6418. Am I missing something? Haha I feel like I'm missing a light.

I assume: dome light = map light - since I've never seen a special map light in a ddition to the dome light in a Crossfire.
At least in my car the glove and cargo lights are "6418 Festoon Dome Bulbs" and the bulbs for the interiour lighting (dome or "map" lights) are "2825 Bulbs".

Has anyone tried other sites that sell LEDs with built in resistors like superbrightleds.com or anything like it?

I bought my license plate and a few inside lights from them and they worked great, they have good customer service too...I had an issue with a bad bulb and they just sent me a new one, no questions asked.

I think the sticky needs to be updated...just bought 3 pairs (6) 36mm 2LED festoons for the license plate, cargo, glove box, and dome/map lights because the main post and its "buy this" summary said so.

Those DO not fit the dome, and they only fit the cargo area by field-rigging the metal inside the lamp housing.

At least I've got a nice blue glove box now...

Waiting on regulators to take apart the license plate area, I'll let you know at that point if these fit there either.

FYI, I got these for license plates and it took care of the bulb out warning (I was using regular LEDs before):
6418 C6W Error Free LED Bulbs | Audi BMW Mercedes License Plate Lights

For my dome light, I'm using amber LEDs to make it less of stadium feel to the car... it's too bright for me with stock bulbs. They are just regular 194 LEDs, fitting them in was a little tight. I don't recommend the 194 with too many LED bulbs on it. I just used ones with 4 LED bulbs.

The cargo area and the license plate bulbs should be 30mm festoon IIRC. The 'dome' map lights are 194s, very easy to find and cheaper than the festoon style.

I am pretty sure the info at the beginning of the sticky will verify this.

My trunk light was longer than the license plate bulbs. I made what I had worked by jut modifying the metal contact strip in the bulb holder.

Also, if you don't use load resistors (like I didn't) the voltage and current surges from the can system looking for a bulb will kill the LEDs in a heartbeat. I've had 10 completely fail.

I'm currently looking for LEDs with the resistor built in or a more compact load resistor.

Ahh the beauty of a base XF.

I swap out for all LEDs, no indicator. I put on aftermarket 20" wheels, no TPMS indicator. It is definitely more suited to be modded

Map lights = Dome lights, that has been established.

Yes, I know I should have taken apart everything and done more research before I bought, but a sticky is a sticky for a reason, and everyone in this thread seemed to be praising the accuracy of the sticky.

Just saying - might want to be updated, cause my dome/map lights sure arent taking 6418 festoon 36mm LEDs anytime soon!

You are correct, the sticky has been changed in the last 6 months or so. The info is not correct, Gary, FP, can we get this changed to reflect what is actually in our cars

Hi:

You state that the parking front "eyelid" bulbs are the hardest to change on the car but can be removed by turning the gray bulb sockets with needlenose pliers. However, how do you then remove the socket from the headlamp assembly. On my SRT6, there is a plastic cover on the back of the headlamp assembly that prevents easy removal of the bulb socket once it is loosened with pliers.

Thanks for the help.

Yea this information is wrong.
Glove Box, Cargo Area, Map (Quantity 4)
Standard: 6418
The glove box is 6418 36mm, but the cargo area is 44mm, and the map light is completely different, 194 standard looking bulb, not the festoon bulbs in cargo or glove box. Wasted money buying wrong LED's.

I understand that you mean the socket for the headlamp bulb that has the wires on it. It does not come out of the assembly easily by the look of it.
If you are adding HID's then it is left in place, if not why do you want to remove it?
I have to admit it would be nice to remove when fitting HID's.

I have stock Low Beams and want to get them brighter. If I go with a 6000K bulb, can that damage anything else in the housing because that is a lot hotter than stock if stock is 4300K? Thanks!
